About me
Hi, I'm Josie, a fully qualified integrative counsellor experienced in supporting adults to make sense of what is going on for them in their world and move forward in a way that best works for them. Whether it's working through grief or life changes, or feeling overwhelmed or stressed by daily life, I offer a calm and supportive space to work through it together.
We can explore your thoughts and emotions, look at patterns and identify what's going on beneath the surface, helping you to re-discover and re-connect with yours wants and needs. You'll be met with understanding, patience and openness, without judgement or pressure. I'm neuro-affirming and am neurodivergent (ADHD), understanding the importance of individuality and working with your mind in a way that supports you.
Our sessions will be a time for you to work through whatever you'd like to explore, at your pace and direction, without any pressure. I have a particular passion for supporting with loss, grief and bereavement, areas that can turn a world upside down and can feel hard to navigate or know what life looks like ahead.
We can work face to face, outdoor/walk and talk or online. Face to face sessions take place in Birchington in Thanet at The Cove Wellbeing Centre. The centre is an a calm space situated 5-10 minutes walk from Birchington Train Station and near various bus stops. It is accessible from other Thanet towns, such as Westgate, Margate, Cliftonville, Broadstairs & Ramsgate. It is also within reach of the towns of Herne Bay and Whitstable and the city of Canterbury.
Outdoor/walk and talk therapy takes place in either Birchington or in Herne Bay, on a coastal route. Online therapy is accessible across the UK.
Aside from Counselling, I am a nature lover who loves a local beach walk or sunset and a good cup of tea. If you feel you'd like to know more about therapy together, reach out to me today.

My Experience
I've supported clients through issues around grief, anxiety, trauma, chronic illness, masking, people-pleasing, relationships and more. I've also supported many neurodivergent clients, diagnosed and undiagnosed.
I have a passion for working with anyone experiencing loss, grief and bereavement and believe in walking gently with you to support you on your journey. There is no 'one size fits all' when it comes to experiencing these- your experience is personal to you.
Being an integrative counsellor means I combine a range of therapeutic models, such as Person-Centred, CBT and Gestalt, tailoring my approach to suit your needs. I believe that for growth and change to take place, what's most important is our therapeutic relationship.
Previously, i've worked in various relational roles, such as:
- Managing a Befriending project
- Counselling at a local charity counselling service
- Teaching assistant with neurodivergent children, young people and adults (diagnosis of autism, ADHD & more)
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
