About me
Hi. I offer face-to-face counselling and psychotherapy in central Norwich, as well as online therapy across England and walk-and-talk counselling in and around Norwich.
Perhaps life has become harder than you’d like? You don’t have to face it alone. I offer a place for wholehearted attention - where you can be your honest self.
Whether you're feeling anxious, overwhelmed, lonely, grieving, questioning your relationships or struggling with low self-confidence, you don't have to face it on your own. My role isn't to tell you who you should be, but to understand who you are. Together, we'll explore what has brought you here, at your pace, with care, understanding, respect and honesty.
Like many people, you may feel nervous before your first counselling session. You may be wondering what you'll say, how you'll begin, or feel anxious about crying. There is no ‘right’ way to start. We will begin wherever you are.
Taking those first steps into the unknown can be really challenging. Knowing where to go or who to see can be equally difficult and confusing. Understanding this, I offer a free 15-minute introductory call, with no obligation to go forward. It gives us an opportunity to meet, for you to experience something of what working together might be like, and for me to hear a little about what you're hoping for.
Before counselling, two decades of photojournalism for The New York Times opened doors to thousands of different lives. I witnessed moments of joy, grief, illness, courage and change. I learned that the most meaningful encounters begin not with advice, but with genuine attention. Photography taught me to be present, to listen without interrupting, and to recognise that every person carries a story that cannot be understood at first glance.
Alongside this, I have worked with people with severe learning disabilities, facilitated groups for men who have experienced pregnancy loss, trained counsellors in this area, provided psychotherapy to people seeking asylum who have experienced complex trauma, and worked for three years on a Swedish wilderness therapy research project for young adults who have experienced cancer.
My life has also been shaped by living abroad, travelling widely and many years of Zen Buddhist meditation practice. These experiences have fostered humility and curiosity in me, and deepened my belief that there is no single way, but many ways, to live well. They have taught me about vulnerability, resilience, the preciousness of life and the importance of being truly present with another person.
I try to bring realness before performance, curiosity before certainty, and compassion without judgement. I respect each person's unique story and believe that meaningful change can begin with feeling deeply understood.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a BACP-registered person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist located in Norwich, UK but I can help you with walk and talk or online therapy sessions wherever you are in England. That means I see counselling as creating the conditions in which new understanding can emerge. My goal is to understand your experience from the inside, offering thoughtful challenge where appropriate while respecting your own pace and inner wisdom.
Many clients describe wanting somewhere they can speak openly without feeling judged, rushed or expected to have everything worked out. You need to be heard, understood and accompanied with care in order to discover a way forward.
Whether we spend time exploring longstanding patterns or recent difficulties and concerns that are hard to put into words – our work will always begin with curiosity, compassion and a genuine human relationship. I also bring an existential perspective that can help you see the big picture and find the meaning you may be looking for.
I work inclusively and affirmatively with trauma, abuse, anxiety, depression, bereavement, pregnancy loss, issues of self-worth, relationship concerns, neurodiversity, men’s and women’s mental health, gender and sexual identity, life transitions, identity and purpose in life.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
