Welcome to my Counselling Directory Page. I am an accredited psychotherapist with a special interest in philosophy-based therapy. In my practice, I draw upon a range of modalities including: Psychodynamic, Existential, CBT, Person-Centred. I am currently completing a Diploma in Couples Counselling.
Sometimes counselling should be about having a compassionate ear to listen and hold a sensative space. Other times, the client may be wrestling with ethical dilemmas or inner conflicts. Clients may even be drawn to certain behaviours or situations by their unconscious. Good counselling should be able to support clients in all of these spaces, all whilst facilitating a safe and warm relationship.
My counselling approach is different to many other practitioners you may see on this site. From my experience, many clients want/need a more directional approach and gentle challenging whilst others may opt for a less directional 'person-centred' style empathetic ear. I work alongside clients to find the optimal approach for their situation.
My approach draws largely on the existential philosophies of Kirkegaard, Buber, Jaspers, Frankl, and others. I am also drawn to the pragmatic theological approaches of Thomas Aquinas and Augustine, the Socratic inquisitiveness of the Greek Philosophers and the musings of the unconscious by Jung, Horney and Van der Kolk. I am currently pursuing a PhD researching the application of G.K. Chesterton in psychotherapy.
My goal is to help people not merely into a better state of mental wellbeing but into a better and more fulfilled life.
