About me

Hi, I’m Jo – Counsellor and Mental Health Trainer at THRYV Therapy.

I offer a compassionate and down-to-earth approach to counselling that’s all about you. While my work is rooted in Person-Centred Therapy, I draw on a mix of therapeutic approaches to make sure each session fits your individual needs. This means we can explore what’s going on for you in a way that feels safe, supportive, and meaningful.

I provide a confidential, non-judgemental space where you’ll feel truly heard, respected, and valued. My approach looks beyond just the symptoms, helping us gently explore what’s underneath—supporting your emotional wellbeing in a way that leads to lasting change.

What kind of sessions do I offer?

  • 1:1 Counselling – Personalised support to help you make sense of life’s challenges.
  • Walk & Talk Therapy – Therapy in nature, giving space to move, reflect, and breathe.
  • Online Sessions – Flexible support, accessible from wherever you are.

Training, qualifications & experience

How did I get here?
My journey into the world of mental health and wellbeing began over 20 years ago, following the birth of my child—an experience shaped by personal loss and the discovery of additional needs within my family. That pivotal chapter set me on a deeply personal and professional path to better understand human development and the ways we can nurture emotional wellbeing throughout life.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with people across the lifespan—from children as young as three to older adults. I’ve supported individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health challenges, from early signs of distress to more acute issues, including self-harm and suicidality.

My work has taken place in diverse settings, including primary schools, residential care, an acute inpatient unit for children and young people, and most recently, within an NHS acute mental health team supporting adults in crisis.
