About me
Hi, I'm Jess. I am a person-centred therapist working with individuals aged 16+, in Kendal, Barrow, and online.
Sometimes it can feel like we are completely alone in our struggles and we can become so used to managing things by ourselves. But you don't have too anymore.
Perhaps you've been feeling overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself and others, or like you're holding everything together on the outside whilst you are crumbling on the inside. Maybe you've been carrying something for a really long time that you are ready to seek support for.
As your therapist, I will walk alongside you and offer you a space free from shame and judgement. A space to slow down and make sense of your experiences. A space to learn to set boundaries, let go of expectations, or to choose yourself when you never have before.
My approach is relational, compassionate and authentic. I show up as a fellow human being in the room with my own “quirks” and “flaws”, and I invite you to do the same. Together, we will endeavour to build a therapeutic relationship based on trust and mutual respect.
At the heart of my practice is a commitment to inclusivity. I welcome people of all identities, sexualities, relationship styles, neurotypes, ethnicities, abilities, and expressions of self.
I recognise that each person experiences the world differently and my practice revolves around acknowledging the impact that social, cultural and systemic forms of oppression can have on our wellbeing, relationships, and sense of self.
My path to becoming a therapist emerged from a special interest in psychology, sociology, and criminology, as well as my own lived experience of mental health difficulties. In my own personal therapy, I discovered greater self-compassion, understanding and hope, and I wanted to share that with other people.
I am particularly passionate about supporting Gen Zs and Millennials, individuals who are autistic and/or ADHD, LGBTQ+ communities, and people navigating the complexities of dysfunctional family relationships, intergenerational trauma, or adverse childhood experiences. These are areas of practice I feel especially connected to, however, I welcome anyone who feels drawn to my approach regardless of your background or presenting concerns.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I am a Gender, Sex and Relationship Diverse (GSRD) affirming practitioner, and I offer an inclusive space for those who do not exist within the heteronormative, cisgender, or monogamous structures of society.
I am actively against the use of conversion practices within psychotherapy and I will never try to change your mind regarding your identity or sexuality.
