About me

Are you tired of going round in the same cycle? If you feel stuck and unable to manage your thoughts and emotions, therapy can help you to unpack these and move forward with clarity.

You may be grieving and find it hard to cope with the overwhelming feelings of loss. You may wake up each morning with a heavy feeling, not knowing where to turn. Taking the first steps to a happier and more fulfilling life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process. Counselling doesn't have to take up a lot of your time, it is just an hour a week. I am available for online and telephone sessions, which can cut travel time.

Therapy can help by:

  • Giving you time to talk through the things that are important to you and exploring options.
  • Reflecting on triggers, their underlying reasons and how you can implement different coping strategies.
  • Exploring and setting boundaries.
  • Implementing self-care and compassion.

I specialise in working with people with addictions, people going through loss or bereavement and boundary setting in relationships or at work.

I have many years experience of working in a care setting, supporting a variety of clients. I also worked in palliative care for a number of years and have some understanding of the challenges involved and how difficult this can be. I currently work for a charity, supporting clients with addictions and I worked for Cruse Bereavement support for three years. I am also a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and I have experience of growing up feeling like I couldn't express this.

I have worked with many people, helping them to explore their current situation, their aims and goals and how to implement these. Having time to reflect on these with someone not connected to the situation can help to unravel them in your mind.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
