About me

People come to therapy for many different reasons. You may be feeling anxious, low, overwhelmed or stuck, struggling with the impact of difficult past experiences, or finding that familiar patterns in your life and relationships keep repeating. At other times, a period of change, loss or uncertainty may leave you feeling that something needs to shift, even if it is difficult to put into words.

I work with individuals and couples to understand what may be happening beneath the surface of these difficulties. My approach is psychodynamic, which means thinking together about how past experiences, relationships and ways of coping may be shaping how you feel and relate in the present. The aim is not simply to manage symptoms, but to develop a deeper understanding that can support meaningful and lasting change.

I offer both individual and couple psychotherapy:

Individual Psychotherapy

Individual psychotherapy sessions last for 50 minutes and offer a confidential, supportive space to explore the difficulties you are facing. Together, we can think about what may be underlying these difficulties, including patterns in relationships, past experiences and ways of coping that may still be shaping the present.

I offer a free 30-minute initial consultation for individuals considering therapy. This gives us an opportunity to meet, talk about what has brought you to therapy and begin to think about whether working together might feel helpful.

Couples Psychotherapy

Couples therapy sessions last for 50 minutes and provide a supportive, balanced space where both partners can think about what is happening in the relationship. Couples come to therapy for many different reasons, including repeated conflict, communication difficulties, affairs or breaches of trust, changes in sexual or emotional intimacy, feelings of distance or stagnation, or difficulties navigating major life changes.

Together, we can explore the patterns that have developed between you, the feelings and expectations that may sit underneath them, and how each of you experiences the relationship.

I offer a free 45-minute initial consultation for couples considering therapy. This is a chance for us to begin understanding what has brought you to this point, what each of you hopes might change, and whether couples therapy feels like the right next step.

Divorce and Separation Focused Psychotherapy

Separation and divorce can be an intensely difficult time, bringing grief, anger, uncertainty and often the need to make important decisions while emotions are running high. Even when a relationship is ending, being able to communicate and understand one another can become more important than ever, particularly where children are involved.

Therapy can offer a supportive space to make sense of what has happened in the relationship, mourn its ending and begin to find a way forward. For couples who will continue to share parenting responsibilities, we can also think together about how to move from being partners to being co-parents, manage conflict and develop ways of communicating that support both you and your children.

The aim is not necessarily to repair the relationship, but to help you separate with greater understanding, clarity and care for what comes next.

Sessions last for 50 minutes. I also offer a free 45-minute initial consultation, giving you both an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to this point, what support you are looking for and whether working together might be helpful.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified and experienced psychodynamic psychotherapist. I hold a Post-Graduate Diploma in Individual and Couple Psychodynamic Psychotherapy from Tavistock Relationships, an internationally recognised centre for psychotherapy teaching, research and practice, and I continue to work there as a Visiting Clinician alongside my private practice.

Alongside my specialist training in relationships, I work with a broad range of emotional difficulties including anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, loss, life transitions and difficulties in relationships.

I have a particular interest in working with individuals and couples where neurodivergence is part of the picture, and experience working with both heterosexual and LGBTQIA+ individuals and couples.

Additionally I hold specific qualifications in supporting women and couples during the perinatal period (meaning the period before birth and in the first year post the birth of a child). I previously worked as a Mental Health Supporter for couples and individuals requiring support during this period.

Before training as a therapist, I worked for 20 years as a Senior Civil Servant in the UK Civil Service.

I am registered with the BACP and offer therapy online and in person from my consulting room near Liverpool Street in East London.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
