About me

Hi,

Thank you. Thank you for stopping at my page. My name is Jane, and I own Caring Counselling in Barrhead, Glasgow. Looking for a counsellor can be stressful.

If you are reading this because you are looking for someone to talk to who will listen without judgement, then you have found her. I understand how daunting or scary it can be to take that first step, but you are here and reading this, so you are halfway there, so keep reading.

I am a qualified counsellor and registered with the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), which ensures that I adhere to professional standards in my practice.

I have counselled dozens of people with issues ranging from addiction to historical sexual abuse to historical physical abuse, grief, anxiety, suicidal ideation, depression, substance abuse, neurodivergence, panic attacks, and becoming overwhelmed by life in general.

I want you to feel a genuine connection when you learn about Caring Counselling. I aim to create a space where you feel understood, supported, and empowered to take the next step in your journey. If you have an instinct that I am the right fit for you, I encourage you to reach out. I am here to listen and help.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

I charge some of the lowest fees in the industry because I believe that this vital service should be available to everyone. There should be no price put on this vital issue, which is why I offer one free space to those who have real issues with affordability. I also have one space for reduced rates if you are unemployed, on any benefits, or have a student card.

Further information

I also regularly participate in continued professional development (CPD) to keep my knowledge up to date and my practice as informed and responsive as possible.

My office is at home with access to my house through a main door. There is also private parking in my driveway. There are local bus and train links within the area.

In some sessions, we may look back at your childhood and adolescence, as they can affect your outlook and reactions. I use trauma cards to help you with language and feelings, but only if you have trouble with emotions you're becoming aware of. I have also developed "Jane's Jenga", which has become a firm favourite.

If your issue isn't on this list, please contact me. I will receive whatever training is necessary to help you.
