About me
- Do you feel anxious or low?
- Are you feeling stuck in certain patterns of behaviour or relationships?
- Do you want to make changes in your life?
In these stressful and uncertain times, these challenges are common. I am a qualified Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, working in Central London and online, and can help you with these questions. Therapy offers a safe and empathetic space to explore these questions in a way that works for you.
My Areas of Focus
I can help you across a range of issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship issues and bereavement. However, I have a particular interest in working with those living and/or working in a cross-cultural context; be that expats, NGO workers, third culture kids, and more.
My History
Outside of working as a Counsellor, I spent twenty years working in the commercial and charity sectors, both in the UK and abroad. I hold a belief that, as well as offering a unique space for clients to explore things they may struggle to talk about outside of the therapy room, the therapeutic process must also integrate with the practicalities of a busy and diverse world outside of this. I hope my experience working in these sectors, and living in different cultures, helps give me a grounding in this.
Next Steps
We can meet in beautiful Central London rooms near Old Street / Farringdon, or online. I work in open-ended depth therapy and sessions are £80 for 50 minutes. If my profile feels like a good fit for you, contact me via email or text to arrange a free 20 minute telephone consultation. On this call we can discuss what you are looking for from therapy and mutually decide whether we are a good match to work together.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a Registered Member with the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), having completed a Level 6 Clinical Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counselling at the Metanoia Institute. I have been seeing clients for three years.
As well as the rigorous training I undertook, I am also in regular supervision and attend frequent CPD events to ensure my continuous development.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

How I Work
I trained in the 'integrative' diploma programme at Metanoia Institute in London. It is my belief that therapy and counselling can often overcomplicate theoretical concepts, leaving potential clients unclear on what terms like this mean. So, to break my training down, integrative refers to an approach where I use different techniques and ideas from a broad range of therapeutic schools to address a client's unique needs. In other words, I start with the clients needs and then consider which theories and psychological concepts might best suit these, rather than being fixed on a single approach.
I hold two core beliefs in my practice: that the needs and individual humanity of each client are the core of therapy and that the past often has an influence on how you live your life today (the ‘psychodynamic’ model). In terms of psychodynamic thinking, psychological distress can very often be caused by the experiences that we have at the hands of our primary caregivers. These early experiences become an internalised blueprint which shapes our sense of self throughout later life and can reverberate down through later years. I hold this concept lightly and it does not mean that the sum of therapy has to focus on these early experiences, but it often gives us a good starting point.
The Relationship is Key
I also feel that interrelatedness and what happens when similarities and differences are explored between people can act as an expansive influence on us as individuals. While recognising that there is a scale for the extent to which different individuals need relationships to function and thrive, it is in early relationships that challenges can often originate for individuals. It therefore follows that new forms of relationship can provide the best vehicle for these parts to be repaired.
The relationship that forms between therapist and client is totally unique and is a key focus of my work. Like all healthy relationships, this means that therapy can involve challenging conversations that explore difficult subjects and the pain associated with them, but can also offer laughter, light and hope.
