About me
I can help you to make sense of difficult feelings or problems in relationships that you are experiencing. You may be aware of repeated patterns of behaviour that seem impossible to break, or you may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious or angry. Whatever the issue, I can help you to explore and identify the root cause of your difficulties. This can provide you with a greater understanding of yourself and an increased sense of wellbeing.
The problems we experience as adults are often related to our childhood, and together we will carefully navigate through your life to help you gain clarity and insight into yourself. The work will involve us looking at your feelings and experiences in the 'here and now', but also looking back at early relationships with key people in your life (e.g. caregivers, teachers and siblings). We will work towards understanding how these relationships and childhood experiences continue to impact on you today. This deep exploration can help you to make sense of feelings of anxiety, depression and low self-esteem, and help provide a new direction moving forwards.
I work with clients on a weekly basis where each client is reserved an appointment at the same time each week. I do not offer ad-hoc or fortnightly sessions because I find that too much time passes between sessions for them to be beneficial.
I generally work in an open ended way, rather than agreeing a set number of sessions in advance. This allows us the time to work at a deeper level which can evoke lasting change. I can provide shorter term counselling to work on a specific issue, but see better results from clients who are willing to commit to the process over a number of months or years.
I understand that it can be daunting to enter into therapy, and I provide an empathic, safe and confidential environment where we can work through your experiences together. I believe that it is important work collaboratively at a pace that you are comfortable with.
I am an experienced psychotherapist and have run my own private practice on a full time basis for several years. I am qualified to the highest level with a MSc in Psychotherapy and a BSc (Hons) in Psychology. I am a Senior Accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and am also registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC). I adhere to the ethical requirements of both organisations.
I am based at Worting House, which is about 2 miles from Basingstoke Town Centre, close to Oakley. The location is easy to get to and there is a large, free car park. There is also a bus stop on the main road outside. In addition to face to face appointments, I offer sessions remotely using Zoom or the telephone.

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
