About me
I am qualified as a COSRT Registered specialist psychosexual and relationship psychotherapist, HCPC registered art psychotherapist and EMDR Practitioner with 30+ years experience in mental health. I offer a personal approach to individuals and intimate partner relationships. My experience extends to working in private practice, community and third sector organisations, within the NHS as a practitioner and senior manager and as a senior lecturer in higher education. I have had the privilege of working with wonderful people who have gained personal growth, healing and new understanding in all of these environments.
My experience of working with a number of psychological and emotional difficulties utilises a wide range of psychological therapies and training to support recovery, growth and development of your individual potential. As a therapist I work in a compassionate and relational way and adapt to your individual needs and requirements. It is not always an easy decision to come to therapy or to choose a therapist, I hope to be able to put you at ease and consider with you what your hopes are and, with you consider the best way forward.
In my role as a psychosexual therapist I support individuals and intimate partners with relationship or/and sexual difficulties, these may include a broad range of difficulties with sex and intimacy related to sexual pain or discomfort, communication issues, use of pornography, sexually compulsive behaviours, erectile difficulties or relationship issues.
As an intimate partner relationship therapist I can support clients with specific relationship or communication issues that may be of concern. I have experience of working with LGBGTQ+ communities, kink, same sex couples and gender identity exploration.
I have worked within mental health services for over 30 years with a broad range of psychological or mental health disorders and difficulties for children, adolescence, adults and families which may include depression and low mood, anxiety, sex and relationship difficulties, sexuality, low self-esteem, work-based stress, trauma, sexually compulsive behaviours, confidence, and relationship and attachment related difficulties.
I offer neuro-affirming and trauma informed approach to my practice and I have additional training in working with clients of all ages with a diagnosis of ADHD and autism.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over 30 years experience, working in the NHS, community and inpatient services as well as voluntary and community organisations and private practice. I have worked in mental health nursing and in psychotherapy working with groups, individuals, couples, and young people. I have worked as a senior lecturer in higher education teaching for 11 years delivering and developing contemporary professional counselling and psychotherapy training programmes at undergraduate and post graduate levels. I continue to be involved with and provide training and continuing professional development workshops for professional counsellors and psychotherapists.
I am able to offer clinical supervision for practitioners and trainees.
I offer a flexible service tailored to meet your needs and what you would like to explore. Currently, I work face to face and online. I use a goal orientated approach to working together and can offer short or long-term options.

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
