About me
Hello, my name is Maddie and firstly, I'd like to thank you for looking at my profile.
There are times in life when things can feel difficult to understand, manage or simply put into words. You might be struggling with anxiety, feeling overwhelmed by stress, trying to make sense of difficult past experiences, or feeling stuck in patterns that aren't helping.
Therapy gives you the opportunity to pause, talk things through and begin to understand yourself and what you need.
I work with adults and young people aged 12 and over. I'll meet you where you are, without judgement or expectations, and we'll work together to understand what you're experiencing and what you'd like to be different. You don't need to know where to start — that's something we can work out together.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling Practice and have trained in the humanistic approach to counselling, including person-centred and solution-focused approaches, with an introduction to Gestalt therapy. I also use CBT tools where appropriate.
My approach is integrative, meaning I draw on different approaches to adapt our work to your individual needs and experiences rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
I have experience supporting adults and young people with a wide range of concerns, with particular experience in working with anxiety and trauma. I also have further training in ADHD and experience supporting people with depression, stress, bereavement, low self-esteem, confidence, identity and self-worth, alongside other challenges that can affect everyday life.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
