About me
Hello, I'm Henry, and I am an integrative therapist registered with BACP.
You might feel anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck in patterns that don’t always make sense. Together, we can explore how these feelings appear in your life and reflect on how they may have been shaped by past relationships and experiences. As a queer therapist, I’m particularly interested in how wider social pressures, including expectations around identity, gender, sexuality, and success, can shape how we relate to ourselves and sometimes create feelings of shame or self-doubt.
How talking therapy can help
Talking therapy can provide a space for deeper self-understanding, helping you make sense of what’s happening in your life right now. I work integratively, drawing on various approaches to tailor therapy to what works best for you. Sometimes this means exploring your thoughts and emotions in the present; other times, looking at past experiences to notice patterns in your relationships or self-perception. This can also include exploring how unconscious social norms about gender, sexuality, and identity shape your experiences, emotions, and sense of self. This process can foster greater self-awareness and create space for meaningful change and new ways of relating to yourself.
In therapy, your experiences can be safely held and witnessed, including what you feel, think, and struggle with, helping you understand yourself more deeply.
Our first session together
Our first session together will be an opportunity for us to learn more about your reasons for seeking therapy, for you to become familiar with my approach, and to address any questions you may have.
If you are interested in working and have further questions, don't hesitate to reach out to arrange a free 15-minute phone consultation.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified therapist and registered member of the BACP, with a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling (Level 7) endorsed by Pink Therapy and an MSc in Psychology. I have had experience supporting a wide range of clients in organisations such as Mind, Arcus LGBTQ+ and Samaritans.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
