About us
Graceway Counselling aims to provide counselling for people in the Medway Towns whose financial circumstances might ordinarily mean they are unable to access full cost counselling.
Graceway Counselling offers a warm, empathic, understanding and non-judgemental service to provide you with the support and help you need.
Counselling is available for individuals, couples, adults, young people and children aged 6 years upwards.
Referrals can be received from individuals or various agencies, churches, schools, charities, community groups, the council, medical professionals or social services. Once a referral is received, the Client will be contacted and an appointment made for an Initial Assessment, which lasts 30 minutes. If counselling is suitable, the Client will be allocated a Counsellor.
Training, qualifications & experience
Graceway's team of Counsellors are all fully qualified trained to a minimum CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Counselling and are registered members of their professional body the BACP.
The Counsellors are very experienced and can help with a wide range of issues some of which include; substance misuse & addictions, abuse, loss & bereavement, disabilities & illness, ADHD, Autism, depression, anxiety, relationships, divorce and separation, self-esteem, self-harm, stress, personality disorders, attachments, OCD, DID, trauma and more.
Counselling is short term, for 6 weeks, at a regular time weekly. Sessions last for 50 minutes for adults and 40 minutes for children. Counselling is usually face-to-face, however online and phone sessions are also available. Counselling is based at various locations in the Medway Towns.
Counselling is talking therapy, although some Counsellors work with creative therapies too. The Counsellors use a range of theoretical approaches including Person Centred, Integrative, Psycho Dynamic, Transactional Analysis, CBT, Solution Focused or others, depending on the needs of the Client and the Counsellor’s training.
Member organisations *
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
