About us
At Good Chat, we offer compassionate, professional counselling in a warm and welcoming space where you can feel safe to be yourself. We understand that reaching out for support can feel like a big step, so our aim is to make the process as gentle, respectful, and supportive as possible from the very first conversation.
Our team includes experienced counsellors and trusted associate counsellors who share the same commitment to providing thoughtful, ethical, and person-centred care. This means we can match you with a therapist who feels right for you, ensuring you receive support that suits your individual needs, personality, and circumstances.
We provide a calm, confidential, and non-judgemental environment where you can talk openly about whatever is on your mind - whether you are experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, relationship challenges, loss, trauma, or simply feeling overwhelmed. We work at your pace, helping you make sense of your experiences, strengthen your emotional wellbeing, and find a way forward that feels manageable and meaningful.
Sessions are available face-to-face, outdoors through walk-and-talk therapy, or online and by phone, allowing you to choose the setting that feels most comfortable and accessible for you.
Above all, we believe that everyone deserves to feel heard, understood, and supported, and we are here to walk alongside you on your journey towards greater clarity, confidence, and wellbeing.
Training, qualifications & experience
Our counsellors are fully trained, qualified professionals who are committed to providing safe, ethical, and high-quality therapeutic support. Each member of our team, including our associate counsellors, holds recognised counselling qualifications and works within established professional standards and codes of ethics.
We also work with carefully selected trainee therapists who are completing accredited professional training. Our trainees are supported through regular supervision, guided clinical practice, and ongoing assessment to ensure safe and effective client care. Offering sessions with trainee therapists allows us to provide lower-cost counselling options, helping to make therapy more accessible while still maintaining a supportive and professionally overseen service.
As a team, we bring a breadth of experience supporting adults with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, and life transitions. Our work is informed by integrative, person-centred, and trauma-aware approaches, allowing us to tailor support to each individual’s needs rather than using a one-size-fits-all model.
All counsellors engage in ongoing professional development, regular clinical supervision, and continuous training to ensure their knowledge remains current and their practice remains safe, reflective, and effective. This commitment helps us offer thoughtful, responsive support while maintaining the highest level of professional care.
Through a combination of formal training, practical experience, and genuine compassion, we aim to provide a service where clients feel both professionally supported and personally understood.
Member organisations *
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
