About me

There are times in our lives when most of us feel lost, anxious, and uncertain because of changes we have no control over. Consequently, it can impact our relationships, causing sleepless nights and ill-health. Such as depression, anxiety, or generally unwell, causing loneliness where we feel no one understands us or the challenges we face.
Counselling is an opportunity to talk to someone independent who is non-judgmental and totally outside of your typical day to day life. By talking to a professional counsellor, you can gradually unpick the difficulties you face and begin to put them into perspective.
My name is Glyn, and as a counsellor and previously a social worker, I have over twenty years experience of working with people of all ages and from all walks of life. Including children, teenagers, adults - families and individuals in the community, in the home, and in groups.
Therefore, giving me a wealth of experience in helping people deal with uncertainty because of the loss of loved ones causing grief, loss of employment and financial security, or just changes out of our control causing anxiety, depression, or general ill-health.
I offer a safe and confidential environment where together we can discuss the issues that have bought you to counselling. Although ultimately, you are the only person who can take steps to resolve the problems you are facing. However, as our relationship develops, I believe the insight and encouragement I can offer as a counsellor/psychotherapist will help you determine the best way forward for you.
Also, the skills and techniques I teach using transactional Analysis, Gestalt, and Mindfulness help reduce old patterns of behaviour that have brought you to this point. As an introduction and to ensure we can work together, I offer a free thirty-minute introduction.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an integrative counsellor which means I can offer therapy and strategies that are based on your needs rather than me having to follow one approach.
As a counsellor, I am trained to develop a collaborative approach with you to support you to explore whatever you bring to counselling enabling you to determine your goals.
By offering a non-judgmental approach together we will explore your thoughts and feelings to help you focus and gain insight into the difficulties you are facing to attain self-acceptance and reach your goals. I offer both short term and long-term counselling with regular reviews to ensure you are getting what you want.
As the therapy progresses, we will examine old patterns of behaviour that have reoccurred that may have contributed to your life events and examine these to see how they can be changed. This will involve you receiving handouts, and together we will agree on exercises you can do between therapy. Change can be hard but to get the most out of therapy, you must put something in, which may mean doing a little bit each day.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
