About me

Hi I'm Fran,

I am an integrative counseller offering therapy in Hove and online.

My practice is warm, intuitive and inclusive.

This is a space for you to be seen, heard and met without judgement.

It may be that you are feeling overwhelmed, frightened or anxious. It may be that you are in pain or have a sense of needing some support. Whatever brings you to therapy, we will begin where you are, as you are, and at your pace.

Uncovering and talking about our feelings can be challenging and take time. In our sessions my role is to listen, support and be alongside you.  Not only will we attend to the difficulties you face, but also the strengths, values, and inner wisdom that can guide you towards lasting change. Therapy can also be joyful!

My approach is holistic, working with the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of being human. I am interested in the deeper stories, relationships and patterns that have shaped you, as well as the present-moment experience of being here together.

I have learnt that even the most difficult feelings can be gateways to deep meaning and transformation.

My practice welcomes and celebrates diversity. I work from a queer-affirming, neuroaffirming and intercultural standpoint.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

My practice is warm, intuitive and inclusive.

Rather than ‘talking therapy’ I see what we’re doing as deep listening, listening to the parts of you that may have been banished, forgotten, suppressed or unloved. Here, we create a space for them to be attended to.

Not only will we attend to the difficulties you face, but also the strengths, values, and inner wisdom that can guide you towards lasting change.

I see the therapy space as a sacred place to be met and seen and heard. I also see it as a playful space, in which there is an invitation to be open to the unknown. Therapy can be challenging, it can also be joyful.

With a background in whole body focusing and theatre, I am interested in the mind-body connection and somatic practices. We may look at the body’s responses or ‘felt sense’ as a doorway into the unconscious. We may also work with dreams and the imagination.

As a Forest School practitioner, I am passionate about the role nature and the other than human world can play in our healing and holding. I see therapy as an opportunity to connect more deeply to self, other and nature. When meeting outside, nature can act as a co-therapist, offering wisdom, holding and containment.

I work in a way which prioritises creating a relationship that feels safe enough for you to experiment with allowing more of yourself to be met, known, and responded to. The work is relational at its core. We are often wounded in relationships and therefore it is in relationships where we can find healing.

Fees

£65.00 per session

Additional information

I offer an initial 15 minute telephone conversation free of charge. This is a chance for us to speak, for you to get a sense of me and how I work, and for us both to see whether it feels like the right fit.

The first session is a full 50-minute therapy session and is charged at my usual fee. In this first session, we would have a more in-depth conversation about what brings you to therapy, what feels important right now, and what you’re hoping for from therapy. It’s a chance for me to share more about how I work and welcome any questions you may have.

We’ll also cover practicalities together - session time, location, weekly rhythm, fees - and any questions you may have about the therapy process.

From there, we continue meeting weekly, allowing the work to unfold naturally over time.
