About me
I offer therapeutic work, both short and long term, with all individuals from the age of 16.
I believe a good therapist is someone who listens attentively and is interested in your story, can gently highlight relational patterns, help you recognise self-sabotaging behaviours, cognitive distortions and unhealthy relationship dynamics.
I can help you develop coping strategies, working collaboratively to understand your thoughts and feelings to help build your emotional regulation skills.
I have training in the neurodiverse spectrum and have lots of experience working with clients both diagnosed and undiagnosed with ADHD and autism.
My aim is to offer a comfortable space with a relaxed environment. I believe there is room for humour in therapy. I encourage clients to embrace their creature comforts, bring your knitting and crochet projects or a favourite blanket if that helps! I also provide fidget toys, art materials, and sensory items – if it helps you relax. If you feel more comfortable sitting on the floor or walking around I’m perfectly happy with that.
I offer a free 15 minute chat as I believe finding the best therapist for you is about finding someone who you feel secure with, someone who gets your vibe!
I choose not to use social media for work purposes. I often see clients who are struggling with excessive social media use and how it makes them feel disconnected from the life they want to live.
Young adults
I have over 20 years of experience working with young people. It is challenging to understand and manage your own emotions whilst having to fit into educational, work, family, and friend structures. I have worked therapeutically with young people facing general anxiety, social anxiety, family abuse and estrangement, low self-worth, self-harm, low mood, navigating neurodivergence, co-parenting relationships alongside many more issues.
ME/CFS and chronic illness
I have personal experience of ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome). I understand the confusion, frustration, loss, and grief this illness can bring. Clients do not need a formal diagnosis for therapeutic support.
I am able to help with the emotional side of these illnesses. I believe in a holistic approach and can offer support on researched practical advice on managing your illness too. Pacing, the energy envelope, managing your symptoms, finding your baseline all become familiar terms that you can be left to struggle with, my aim is to work together on individualising this for you.
Current research states that ME/CFS is both an immune and nervous system dysfunction. Therapeutic support can help switch the autonomic nervous system to its ideal state to improve symptoms of fatigue, pain and illness.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethical framework.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have 20 years experience working with children, young people, and families. I have worked with young people living apart from family, youth work, and worked in schools in a mental health wellbeing capacity liaising and working with parents alongside their child.
I work for a local charity where I completed my psychotherapy placement during training, counselling young adults aged 16-25 at risk of homelessness.
I hold a current enhanced DBS check.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
The therapeutic relationship is necessary for clients to feel heard, supported, and to implement change in their lives. To see if I am the right therapist for you, I offer a free 20 minute phone consultation to talk through how we might work together. If you call and I am in a session please feel comfortable to send me a message on WhatsApp if you do not wish to leave a voicemail/text.
For in-person sessions, I work from Leeds Complementary Therapy centre in Far Headingley, LS16. The building has stairs to reach the therapy rooms.
