About me

Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. Taking the first step towards beginning therapy might feel daunting, but I believe that it can provide an opening to a new awareness and care of ourselves.

My name is Fi, and I am an integrative counsellor. This means that I draw on many different theories to inform my work with you.

Sometimes in life our mental health suffers and we feel in need of help. Now, more than ever, we are aware of the importance of addressing, not ignoring, this. Depending on our own history, we either reach out to find support or we drive the discomfort inside us, employing alternative strategies to avoid or numb the pain, prolonging and deepening the problems.

We all face challenges at some point in our lives and surviving them alone can feel overwhelming. It is my belief that through the relationship we build together we can experience, understand and repair the effects of those challenges. We might look at how you respond to people in your life, or stress, among other things. It can be useful to look at your past influences and how they have impacted your way of being throughout life and in the present.

I sometimes like to use art, poetry, visualisations and dreams to explore your inner world and help you to express what is going on for you. The process may touch on places of sadness or anxiety, but there may be laughter as well – I believe that humour can be a great source of healing.

I am trained to work with many areas you may want to explore with particular interest in relationships, human connection, attachment, grief and loss.

I live in Nailsworth, near Stroud, working with clients in a studio at my home. I also work online, allowing us to work together no matter where you are or how limited your time is.

Getting in touch does not obligate you in any way so please feel free to make contact and see how I might be able to help you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
