About me
I'm Fiona, and I am a qualified counsellor grounded in a person-centred approach. This means we work at your pace and our sessions are guided by your needs. I draw from Integrative counselling approaches to support you.
Life transitions can leave us feeling uncertain and overwhelmed. Here at North Path Counselling, I aim to help you find your way forward. I work with adults who are facing difficulties for a wide range of reasons: anxiety, overwhelm, loss, relationship difficulties, trauma, and body image concerns.
Whatever has brought you to counselling, you don't have to face it alone. Together we can explore the challenges and make sense of what's going on for you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold an Honours degree in Psychology and a Higher National Diploma in Counselling. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Before becoming a counsellor, I worked for 20 years as a teacher of additional Support needs in both primary and secondary schools. This experience informs my understanding of neurodivergence.
My experience includes training with Moray Rape Crisis, supporting individuals affected by sexual violence and trauma. More recently, I continue to work with the children's charity Children First, supporting children and families experiencing challenges in their lives.
These experiences have shaped my understanding of relationships, trauma and resilience, and the importance of seeing each person as an individual.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Alongside talking therapy, I offer Walk and Talk Therapy, providing an opportunity to reflect while benefiting from the calming influence of the outdoors.
In addition, I offer 'Tapping' Therapy. This can be a one-off session, or it can complement talking therapy.
