About me

Hi, I am Emma, a qualified counsellor since 2011 offering 50 minute online and telephone sessions across the UK. No matter where you are, you can access support in a way and at a time that is convenient to you.

Life can feel confusing and overwhelming at times, especially when we are facing change, loss, or uncertainty. When this happens, it is easy to feel disconnected from ourselves and unsure of what we want. My role is to help you make sense of your thoughts and emotions, giving you space to explore what is going on in a way that feels comfortable and supportive.

I have a wealth of experience working with both young people and adults, Issues I have worked with include self harm, anxiety, disordered eating, body image, sexuality issues, rape and historical sexual abuse, bereavement, bereavement by suicide, divorce, and other significant life events. I understand that emotions are not always consistent and some days can feel easier to manage, whilst others feel much harder. As we work together, I can offer coping strategies while we explore the deeper challenges you may be facing.

My approach is person-centred, meaning I will not tell you what to do or give direct advice. Instead, I shall support you in exploring different perspectives and help you reflect on what feels right for you. Everyone’s experiences are unique, and I will never make assumptions about how you feel or what you need. Instead, I will work to understand your world from your point of view and provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel truly heard.

Our aim is to develop a relationship where you feel comfortable, understood, and safe to explore whatever you are experiencing.

Taking the step to start counselling can feel daunting, and I appreciate how much bravery it can take. I have genuine respect for anyone who has the courage to stop and say I am not happy with my life at the moment therefore I am prepared to make changes.

If you would like to see if we are the right fit, I offer a free 20-minute consultation online or by phone. This gives you the chance to share a little about what is bringing you to counselling, ask any questions, and get a feel for how I work without any pressure to commit to a session.

If this sounds like the support you are looking for, feel free to reach out. I am happy to answer any questions and would love to hear from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
