About me

Are you struggling at the moment?, Does everything feel a bit much but you can't quite put your finger on why? or do you know that your feelings are linked to a change or life event such as a bereavement, divorce, redundancy, medical diagnosis but you don't know where to go next or how to move forward? Well you are in the right place. Counselling can feel like a daunting step at the beginning but I will be here to guide and support you every step of the way on your journey to feel happier

Are you feeling lonely, unsupported, lost, floundering, isolated, exhausted from pretending to be fine or holding it all together. You don’t have to put on a brave face in counselling, here you can lay it all out on the table and slowly and steadily work through what is upsetting you.

Life can feel really heavy sometimes maybe your thoughts are all over the place, or you are carrying the weight of problems or feelings you may not fully understand, like sadness, anger, anxiety or feeling stuck. Counselling helps because it gives you a space that is just for you, somewhere you can say whatever you need to without being judged, interrupted or given advice.

Here is how counselling can help

You say things out loud, maybe you verbalise things for the first time and that alone brings a powerful sense of relief
You make sense of your thoughts and feelings. Things often feel clearer when they are not being magnified by constantly looping in your head.
You begin to better understand yourself. This can help you stop repeating patterns or behaviours that are not working for you anymore
You start to feel more in control.  Life doesn’t magically fix itself, but you learn how to see and manage things differently and that feels empowering
You feel less alone. Having someone next to you as you navigate difficulties can make a real difference.
You don’t need to be in crisis or have a big ‘reason’ to come to counselling. Sometimes people feel overwhelmed, low or unsure of where they are going and counselling can help them find their focus and direction again.

Worried about your child or teen?

Being a parent can be incredibly hard, especially when you know your child is struggling but you are not quite sure how to help.  Maybe they have become more withdrawn, more angry or just don’t seem like themselves anymore.  Maybe they are anxious, tearful or finding it hard to cope with school, friendships or changes at home.

You might feel like you are walking on eggshells, trying to say the right thing but getting nowhere, or maybe they wont talk to you at all and you are at your wits ends and feeling helpless.
Counselling can give your child or teenager a safe space where they do not have to pretend.  They don’t have to explain everything perfectly or worry about upsetting anyone, they can just be themselves, exactly as they are.

How counselling can help children & young people
They have someone to talk to who is not a parent or teacher. That alone can make a big difference.
They learn to understand and manage their feelings, instead of bottling them up or acting them out.
They feel heard and respected, which helps build confidence and trust.
They begin to feel more in control, less overwhelmed, less alone and more understood, seen, heard and valued.

And for you the parent, there is the relief in knowing that they have someone in their corner. Someone trained to support them in working things through at their own pace, in their own way.
You are not failing them by asking for help.  In fact, you are showing them one of the most powerful things we can ever teach a child, that it is ok to reach out when things feel too much.

Couples Therapy
I offer couples therapy for partners who may be experiencing challenges in their relationship, or who simply want to strengthen their connection and understanding of one another.

Relationships can become strained for many reasons—communication difficulties, feeling unheard or disconnected, conflict, trust issues, or the impact of life stresses. Therapy provides a safe, neutral and confidential space where both partners can explore what is happening in the relationship, without blame or judgement.

I work in a collaborative and balanced way, ensuring both individuals feel heard, respected and supported. Together, we can begin to understand patterns within the relationship, improve communication, and find new ways of relating to one another.

Couples therapy can support you to:

Communicate more openly and effectively
Rebuild trust and emotional connection
Navigate conflict in a healthier way
Understand each other’s needs and perspectives
Strengthen your relationship moving forward
Whether you are facing a specific difficulty or feeling a gradual distance between you, seeking support can be a positive step towards change.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
