About me

Hi, I’m Ellie.

Reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step, especially when life feels overwhelming, relationships feel difficult, or you’re carrying experiences that are hard to make sense of on your own.

Whatever has brought you here, you don’t have to face it alone.

I offer psychotherapy and counselling for children, young people and adults, creating a calm, supportive space where you can slow down, feel genuinely heard and begin to explore whatever is on your mind at your own pace.

You don’t have to be at breaking point to benefit from therapy. Sometimes people come because they’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed or emotionally exhausted. Others come after experiencing a loss, navigating relationship difficulties, struggling with self-esteem, or simply because something doesn’t feel quite right anymore. Therapy can also be a place to understand yourself more deeply, even if you don’t yet have the words for what you’re feeling.

I believe that meaningful change often begins within a trusting therapeutic relationship. My aim is to offer a space where you don’t feel judged, rushed or expected to have everything figured out. Instead, we’ll work together with compassion, curiosity and honesty to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences.

My work is relational and integrative, grounded in Psychodynamic and Jungian thinking. This means I’m interested not only in the difficulties you’re experiencing today, but also in understanding the relationships, experiences and patterns that may have shaped how you experience yourself and others. Together, we can gently make sense of these patterns, helping you develop greater self-understanding, self-compassion and opportunities for meaningful, lasting change.

Some people come to therapy for a few sessions to work through a specific difficulty, while others choose open-ended psychotherapy to explore deeper patterns. We can think together about what feels right for you.

Children & Young People
I work with children and young people experiencing a wide range of emotional, behavioural and relational difficulties.

Children and young people often communicate distress in ways that aren’t always easy to put into words. Anxiety, low mood, anger, withdrawal, friendship difficulties or changes in behaviour can all be meaningful ways of expressing emotional experiences.

Alongside supporting these more everyday difficulties, I also have experience working with children and young people who have experienced sexual abuse, trauma, attachment difficulties, self-harm and suicidal ideation, bereavement, family change and care experiences.

I understand that every young person is different. Some prefer talking, while others communicate more comfortably through creativity, play or shared activities. Where appropriate, I incorporate creative, sensory, relational and play-based approaches, adapting therapy to each child’s developmental stage, personality and individual needs.

My experience includes working within specialistic therapeutic services supporting children and young people affected by sexual abuse and complex trauma, as well as school-based therapeutic services, giving me experience working with both highly complex presentations and the everyday emotional challenges many children and young people face.

Adults
I work with adults navigating anxiety, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, grief, life transitions and the lasting impact of earlier experiences.

Sometimes you may know exactly what has brought you to therapy. Other times, there may simply be a feeling that life has become heavier than it once was, or that you keep finding yourself stuck in the same patterns without fully understanding why.

Therapy offers an opportunity to pause, reflect and make sense of your experiences in a deeper way. Together, we’ll explore not only what is happening in the present, but also how earlier relationships and experiences may continue to influence the way you think, feel and relate to yourself and others.

Alongside anxiety, stress, depression, grief and relationship difficulties, I also have experience supporting adults affected by trauma, emotional, physical and sexual abuse, and pregnancy and baby loss. My aim is always to meet you wherever you are, offering a space that feels safe enough to explore difficult experiences without judgement and at a pace that feels manageable.

My previous work has included supporting adults within specialist bereavement services, pregnancy and baby loss services, and community counselling settings, alongside longer-term psychotherapy for abuse and trauma.

Taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting, but you don’t have to have everything figured out before reaching out. If you have any questions or would like to arrange an initial session, you’re very welcome to get in touch. Our initial session is an opportunity to explore what has brought you to therapy and to consider together the most helpful way forward.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
