About me
Hello, I'm Elizabeth Knott, a qualified counsellor dedicated to providing a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can explore the challenges you are facing and work towards meaningful change.
Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, whether you are experiencing anxiety, stress, low mood, relationship difficulties, bereavement, workplace pressures, low self-esteem, or significant life changes. I believe that seeking support is a sign of strength, and my role is to walk alongside you, helping you gain insight, build resilience, and develop strategies that enable you to move forward with greater confidence.
My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your individual needs. I recognise that every person is unique, and I work to ensure that therapy feels both supportive and empowering. Building a strong therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my practice, as I believe real change begins when you feel heard, understood, and accepted.
Alongside my counselling work, I have extensive experience supporting people through personal and professional challenges, including volunteering, leadership, workplace wellbeing, conflict, change, and personal development. This experience provides valuable insight into the pressures many individuals face in different areas of their lives.
Whether you are looking to understand yourself better, navigate a difficult period, or make lasting changes, I offer a confidential space where you can talk openly and honestly at your own pace.
I welcome adults from all backgrounds and am committed to providing an inclusive and respectful environment where you feel safe to explore what matters most to you.
Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, but you don't have to face things alone. I would be pleased to support you on your journey.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I have over 10 years' experience working across charities and community organisations in Rochdale, Manchester and across the UK, supporting people affected by homelessness, substance misuse, and the criminal justice system, as well as those working in or alongside emergency services.
I understand the complex emotional and practical pressures that life circumstances, trauma, and high-responsibility roles can create, and I bring this understanding into every counselling session.
Throughout my career, I've supported people from many walks of life, from those in crisis to those seeking deeper self-understanding and growth. My approach is rooted in empathy, respect, and authenticity.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work according to their Ethical Framework, ensuring a professional, confidential, and safe service.
