About me
I'm an experienced psychotherapist working in the heart of the City of London able to help with all kinds of different challenges. I tailor my approach to the needs of the client, figuring out the best way to get you through the difficulties you face as well as to learn and grow along the way.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a certified psychoanalytic psychotherapist, registered with UKCP and having trained at the Philadelphia Association. I have been qualified and working for over ten years in full time private practice with a wide variety of clients.
I also teach psychotherapy at the Philadelphia Association and have been involved in running their training program for several years. I also teach at the Site for Contemporary Psychoanalysis.
I have MAs in Philosophy from Cambridge University and Warwick University, which inform the work I do and the way I think about life. A lot of therapy involves wisdom and judgment and I'd like to think my philosophical training helps me with those.
Before training as a therapist I worked in finance in the City for ten years. This helps me understand the pressures of professional life, and the types of strain people experience at work.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
Sometimes our situation doesn't fit classical categories, we just have a strong sense of things not being quite right. A sense which can become stronger with time. I think of psychotherapy as a space in which to think about such things, to explore questions of meaning and purpose, of identity and ethics.
Part of therapy is just taking time to catch one's breath and try to think again, to recover from feeling lost and overwhelmed, or to find the missing piece. My approach is to patiently sit with you and see where that might lead us.
