About me

My name is Donna, thank you for viewing my profile.  For whatever reason your searching, anxiety, depression, loneliness, trauma, fears or phobias or just needing someone to hear you, I'm here to listen, it's key to be able to find the right therapist for you, one you can feel comfortable with who can relate in a meaningful way.

I’m an Integrated Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Hypnotherapist, with many years of personal and professional experience supporting people through challenging times, I’ve worked within the public sector, working with disabilities, caring for people in the community as well as being a PA in the city with the hustle and bustle of life.

Sometimes life can feel overwhelming, confusing or simply difficult to navigate on your own. You may know that something needs to change but not know where to begin. You may be struggling with your thoughts, emotions, relationships, confidence or experiences from the past, that can feel like it’s too much and not sure where to turn or who to speak to, or even know where to start, well here I am, and listening with no pressure.

Firstly, and fundamentally people just want to talk and be heard.

I have had personal experience with therapy over the years, which has had a very positive impact and I decided to help others who have needed someone to listen without feeling judged, without the burden or worry of confiding in the people we love.

I like to offer a safe enviroment which is compassionate, confidential and completely centred around you and no two people are the same.

Everyone has their own experiences, personality, circumstances, strengths and challenges. Because of this, I take the time to understand you as an individual and what you would like to achieve from our work together.

We can create a personalised therapeutic programme designed around your individual needs and goals, this is “your time” to feel safe when talking about things that can be triggering, upsetting or out of your comfort zone.

This may involve talking therapy, psychotherapeutic approaches i.e. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Humanistic Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy, hypnotherapy, practical techniques, or a combination of approaches where appropriate.

Depending on your individual circumstances and within my professional scope of practice, we can explore areas such as:

My therapeutic approach

We might explore how your past experiences have shaped the person you are today, look at patterns in your thoughts and behaviours, develop new ways of understanding yourself, or focus more specifically on what you are experiencing in the present.

The most important thing is that our work is relevant to you.

Here is what I like each client to explore and experience:

  • Be kinder to yourself
  • Take a deep breath
  • Working together with myself, it is your space to be you, a space where you can be your true self, with no external judgements
  • You don't need to pretend that everything is okay
  • You don't need to know exactly what you need help with
  • And you don't need to have the right words

My role is to listen, to bring my professional knowledge, experience and therapeutic skills alongside you.  Help you feel seen, make sense of what you're experiencing and support you in finding a way forward that feels right for you.

"You are the expert in your own life and you are in control."

Whether you're looking to understand yourself better, overcome something that is holding you back, change an unhelpful pattern or simply have someone safe to talk to, we can work together at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

I'll leave you with this quote:

“Trust yourself enough to take the first step. You are not defined by what happened yesterday, but by what you choose to do today. The past may have shaped you, but it does not have to define you. Believe that change is possible, believe in the person you are becoming, and have the courage to reach out for support. Counselling is not a sign that you are broken - it is a brave step towards understanding yourself, healing your past, and creating the future you deserve. Your story is still being written, and you get to decide what comes next.”

Your story is unique. Your therapy should be too.
