About me

Counselling can benefit us all at some point in our lives. Sometimes it feels as though life or our relationships are no longer working and the pressures of modern life can get too much. Sometimes we feel too lonely or scared to face life alone. We may feel overwhelmed and out of control, meaning we change our behaviours to try and cope. That is why therapy can be beneficial to explore a change of direction, lifestyle or thoughts patterns, relaxation or self-care, or simply to just be with another whilst you take time to talk things through.

I am a professional counsellor at BeeKind Healing, Counselling and Psychotherapy, and have spent many years working as a senior mental health nurse in the NHS, which has put me in touch with many different people and situations. I have found that it is through the therapeutic relationship between counsellor and client where lasting change can really happen.

I commit to providing a confidential, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you feel safe to openly explore your thoughts, emotions and experiences, develop self-awareness and be proactive in your therapeutic process. If you would like to talk with me about counselling, please do get in touch.

Training, qualifications & experience

As well as working with adult men and women in private practice, I have worked as a counsellor at a sexual assault referral centre within the NHS.  I also have a longstanding background as a senior mental health nurse within the NHS.  Due to the nature of my work, no two days are the same. I therefore keep up to date with the latest ideas and developments within mental health and counselling. To keep you safe, I am covered by a professional body called the BACP (www.bacp.co.uk).

As an aside, I am a Reiki master with nearly 20 years experience.  Reiki is an ancient and profound spiritual healing technique, and I am trained in the Usui lineage of this wonderful healing method.  If you would like more information, please do not hesitate to enquire within.  More information can be found on my website https://www.beekindhealing-counselling.co.uk/reiki.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
