About me

Having worked within the NHS for over 20 years supporting all aspects of women’s health and wellbeing, including health anxiety, social anxiety, trauma, antenatal and postnatal depression. I am well positioned to help with an extensive range of concerns.

I am a friendly, empathetic counsellor experienced in working with clients facing a wide range of challenges. I work with women, men and young adults.

As your Counsellor, I will provide you with a warm, safe, non-judgemental space to share your personal issues. Together we will work to improve your happiness, well being and sense of self. Clients often find counselling has a significantly positive impact on their lives and reflect on it being one of the most meaningful changes they have made.

I trained in Gestalt therapy, and draw on a number of therapeutic approaches to help to raise your awareness and build on your self direction, we will work together to gradually break down some of your unhelpful patterns of thoughts and behaviour.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by their ethical framework. I undertake regular supervision of my work in line with BACP guidelines.

In addition to my private practice, I have experience of working for a Women’s Centre, and currently work as a clinical coordinator at a not-for-profit counselling service based in St Albans.

  • Professional Diploma in Counselling (Gestalt) - The Albany Centre.
  • BSc (Hons) Specialist Community Public Health Nursing.
  • Certificate Programme in Advanced Trauma, PTSD & Dissociation.
  • Regular CPD Training.
  • Enhanced DBS checked.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
