About me
I'm Darrel, a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist based in Kent, working online, by phone, and face-to-face.
Whatever brought you here, something has made you stop and look. Maybe you've been carrying something for a while. Maybe things have recently got harder. Maybe you just know something isn't right but can't quite put your finger on what. You don't need a clear reason or a diagnosis to get in touch. If something here resonates, that's enough.
I'll be honest about how I work. I'm not the kind of therapist who sits quietly, tilts their head, and asks how that made you feel every five minutes. I'm genuinely curious about you. I ask questions that get to the point, I listen carefully, and I'll challenge you when I think it'll help. Not to catch you out, but because that's usually where the useful stuff is.
I came to counselling the long way round, qualifying later in life after years in business. That background shapes how I work. I understand pressure, I think differently, and I'm more interested in helping you move forward than keeping you talking indefinitely.
What to Expect
No judgement. Whatever you bring to a session, nothing will shock me or make me think less of you. People open up when they feel safe, and feeling safe starts with knowing you won't be judged.
A tailored approach. I draw on psychodynamic, humanistic, and CBT methods, which means I can help you explore how the past is affecting you today, work through what's going on right now, or focus on who you want to become. Usually it's a blend, tailored to what you actually need.
A free 30-minute intro call. No pressure, no commitment. Just an honest conversation to see if we're the right fit. If I'm not the right person for you, I'll say so and try to point you in a better direction.
