About me

I’m Daniel, a qualified and BACP registered psychotherapist offering therapy for adults online and in person. I work with people facing many different challenges including depression, anxiety, stress, grief, burnout and low self-worth, as well as those feeling stuck, lost or unsure about their direction in life.

My background is in experiential and person-centred therapy and over time I’ve developed an integrative approach that draws on a range of methods including CBT, Gestalt and Focusing to suit the individual needs of each person I work with. I believe that therapy should fit around you, not the other way round, and that different people need different things at different times in their lives.

For some, therapy may involve exploring early experiences or patterns in relationships that continue to affect how they think and feel today. Understanding where these patterns began can bring insight and release. For others, the focus might be more practical, identifying what’s happening now, finding new ways to cope and making gradual changes that feel achievable and real.

At times, we might pay attention to the body as well as the mind, noticing how tension, emotion and memory are held physically. Learning to listen inwardly in this way can help to reduce stress and deepen self-understanding. Where it feels helpful, I also bring in grounding or mindfulness-based techniques to support this process.

Many people simply value having a regular, confidential space where they can speak freely and be heard without judgement or expectation. My role is to offer that space, warm, safe and steady, where you can reflect, make sense of your experiences and begin to reconnect with yourself at your own pace.

I welcome adults from all backgrounds and provide an affirming, inclusive space for LGBTQ+ clients.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified and BACP registered psychotherapist with a background in Person-Centred Experiential Psychotherapy. I hold a BA (Hons) in Person-Centred Experiential Counselling and Psychotherapy, awarded in 2017.

My work is grounded in this training, and over time I have developed an integrative style that is informed by elements of CBT, Gestalt and Focusing. This approach allows me to work flexibly and respond to what feels most helpful for each person, whether the focus is understanding the past, managing present challenges or exploring new ways of being.

In addition to my private practice, I work with adults through Merseyside Counselling and Therapy Centre and have previously provided therapy to GP-referred clients at The Ash Surgery in Liverpool. Alongside this, I have worked for several years in national mental health research, supporting projects focused on improving wellbeing and access to care across the UK.

This combination of therapeutic and research experience has given me a broad understanding of the factors that influence mental health. From personal history and relationships to social, cultural and systemic pressures. It has also reinforced my belief in the importance of offering therapy that is accessible, respectful and centred on each individual’s lived experience.

I am committed to ongoing professional development and to providing safe, ethical and effective therapy for every client I work with.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Therapy can mean many things. For some, it’s a chance to slow down and reflect. For others, it’s a way to untangle what feels confusing or to find steadier ground after a difficult time. However it begins, it’s a space to be real, to explore what matters most to you without pressure or expectation.

People often describe therapy as the first place they’ve been able to say things out loud and really hear themselves. Sometimes it’s uncomfortable, sometimes it’s a relief, but it’s always an act of care for yourself. My role is to walk alongside you in that process, keeping the work honest, human and useful.

I offer both short and longer-term therapy, depending on what feels right. You might come with a clear focus, or simply a sense that something isn’t sitting right. Either is enough. We begin there and work at a pace that supports genuine change and understanding.

Alongside my practice, I write a reflective blog about therapy and emotional life, exploring what it means to connect more deeply with ourselves and the world around us. Some people find these reflections helpful in understanding how therapy can unfold, both inside and outside the room.

If this feels like the kind of space you’re looking for, I’d be glad to hear from you.
