About me

Hi, I’m Connor. A qualified BACP counsellor working across North Ayrshire, If you’re reading this, you might be thinking about talking to someone. I know from personal experience that reaching out can feel like a big, uncertain step. So let me start by saying: I’m really glad you are here.

I offer a relaxed, down-to-earth space for anyone who’s struggling with… well, life. You don’t need a diagnosis, a big reason, or the perfect words. Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, burnt out, disconnected. Or maybe you just know something isn’t right. Whatever it is, we can explore it together, at your pace.

I work with people from all walks of life. My door’s open to anyone who wants support, whatever your story. That said, I have particular experience in supporting people affected by addiction, trauma and ADHD. One of my current roles involves co-facilitating a community outreach programme in Glasgow. I also support a team of frontline professionals consisting of paramedics, nurses and others…who show up for others every day, sometimes at a great personal cost to their own wellbeing...a reality I work hard to acknowledge and support them through.

I also have a close connection to the animal-care world through my own working background. Whether it’s veterinary, rescue or something in between, I understand the emotional toll this kind of work can take, the quiet compassion fatigue that builds over time, the grief, the pressure to keep going.

I use an integrative, person-centred approach. In other words, I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. I draw from different types of counselling and shape each session around what feels most helpful for you. You’re the expert on your own life. My role is to bring empathy, insight and flexibility to support you as you figure things out. We’ll work in a way that makes sense for you.

Sessions with me aren’t rigid. They’re human. Sometimes they’re serious. Sometimes they’re unexpectedly fun. I go out of my way to adapt each session to meet you where you’re at. No pressure. No judgement. Just genuine support.

You can choose how we meet:

  • In-person in a cosy, trauma-informed space
  • Outdoors in nature, at a pace that suits you
  • Online, if that fits your lifestyle best

Why I offer outdoor counselling

Throughout my life, I’ve always felt a deep connection to nature. It’s where I go to reset, decompress and come back to myself. Most weekends you’ll find me off-grid in Galloway Forest Park, getting lost in the wilderness with my dog. Nature plays a huge part in keeping me grounded, and I love being able to share that with my clients. It’s not about hiking boots or pushing limits. It’s about slowing down, breathing, and letting the natural world support your process. Nature is ever-changing, and so are you.

Therapy doesn’t have to look or feel one particular way. It just has to feel safe enough to start. So if something about this has caught your attention, even if you’re not sure why, you’re welcome to get in touch. Come as you are.

Final Note: If you’re feeling a bit lost on Counselling Directory, you’re not alone. I work alongside a network of trusted counsellors, so even if I’m not the right fit for you, you’re very welcome to reach out and I may be able to help point you in the right direction.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

As someone with lived experience of physical disability, accessibility matters to me. Irvine has lift access. Largs is first floor via stairs. Accessible outdoor and online sessions are available. Please ask about any adjustments.
