About me

I am a fully qualified BACP registered integrative therapist/ counsellor working with individuals (adults of 18+), based in West Dulwich.

I have trained in all the main schools of psychotherapy, but adapt my approach for each client, because all of my clients are unique, and I believe therapy works best when my clients work in a way that feels helpful for them.

Sometimes, when we are struggling or feeling low, those who love and care for us may find it difficult to know how to support us. Or we might find ourselves feeling alone, unable to talk to anyone about how we feel.

It can also be hard to seek support or help if we are used to putting others needs before our own, or to being self-reliant.

But simply pushing on, hoping things will improve, often leads to a build-up of feelings which can becoming overwhelming instead, leading to distress, anxiety, low mood or exhaustion.

It can also lead to us feeling disconnected from ourselves or others, particularly if we shut off our feelings in order to get through the day to day.

Therapy with me offers you a non-judgemental and supportive place to explore and work through any difficult feelings or challenges you are facing, rather than dealing with them alone or pushing them away.

I will listen to you with compassion and empathy, helping you regulate your emotions, and understand yourself and your feelings more fully. I will support you to develop confidence and resilience to challenge behaviours, patterns or beliefs (either your own or those of others) which may be negatively impacting your emotional wellbeing.

In this way, you can find agency to make choices which align to the future you want, and which lead you towards a healthier, happier life.

Training, qualifications & experience

I studied at the Minster Centre, one of the UK’s leading schools of psychotherapy, qualifying with a BACP accredited diploma (level 7) in Integrative counselling.

I am registered with the BACP and abide by their ethical framework in all my therapeutic work. I am currently undertaking a post qualification Certificate in Body Psychotherapy (Embodied Resonance and Relating)

As an integrative therapist I have trained in all the main psychotherapy modalities, but I predominantly work with attachment, humanistic, and relational psychodynamic theories. I also draw on aspects of body psychotherapy, since I believe what impacts our minds, also impacts our bodies and vice versa.

I have worked for Lambeth & Southwark Mind, the Minster Centre and Centre70 in West Norwood supporting adults, long term, with complex trauma and challenging life circumstances.

Currently, outside of private work, I support parents and pregnant women in a perinatal service, specialising in pregnancy/miscarriage/ parenting and the impact of these on relationships and family dynamics. I also work with creative clients at Trinity Laban University for Music and Dance.

Prior to training as a therapist, I worked for 15 years in HR for large corporate and financial institutions, coaching and counselling employees from entry up to Board level who often struggled with anxiety, stress and family/ relationship issues arising from the demands of their fast-paced lives. These experiences have greatly supported my therapeutic work.

I believe anyone can benefit from therapy, but often my clients seek support for

  • anxiety, stress or depression
  • grief and loss
  • relationships, sex and intimacy
  • family conflict, divorce/ separation
  • pregnancy and miscarriage
  • work stress, burnout, redundancy, retirement
  • somatic issues e.g. eating disorders, panic attacks, exhaustion
  • physical, sexual or emotional trauma, child sexual abuse

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Therapies offered

Fees

£70.00 - £75.00
Free initial telephone session

Additional information

I offer a free 15 min introductory call, so you can get a feel for me and understand how I work. Following this, a first session costs a reduced rate of £50, so we can see whether we feel we are a good fit for each other. I offer this because finding the right therapist is really important to do meaningful work, and this is a good way to get a sense of what it feels like to be in therapy with me.

Subsequent sessions cost £75 for in person sessions and £70 for online. They can be either short term (typically 6 or 12 sessions) or long term, allowing for greater exploration and support for you.

Further information

I work with individual adults (18+) from a quiet, private space in my home in Dulwich. I am conveniently located for those living in Herne Hill, Clapham, Tulse Hill, West Norwood and Brixton, or via a direct train link from London Victoria or London Bridge.

I also work online via Zoom.

Sessions are weekly, and for 50 minutes.

I offer a complementary call with each new client, so you can ask me any questions which might be helpful to you and find out more about me, and I can understand your reason for seeking therapy.

Following this, the first session will be to a chance meet and see how it feels to work together, and decide how we want to move forward.
