About me
Hi, I'm Charlie. I am a qualified integrative counsellor offering weekly talking therapy both online and in person in Dalston, E8 and Stoke Newington, N16.
Why start counselling?
There are times in life when we all feel lost, stuck or weighed down by heavy emotions. If this resonates with you, you may be seeking a warm, non-judgemental space to process your feelings at your own pace. Therapy offers the opportunity to slow down and connect with yourself. It encourages reflection and self-exploration so you can develop the understanding and perspective needed for meaningful change.
Often, our struggles show up most clearly in our relationships such as patterns of conflict, withdrawal or people-pleasing. I view the therapeutic relationship as a place to notice and reflect on these patterns as they arise, helping you to better understand your relational dynamics and consider new possibilities. Therapy doesn’t just explore your pain but can reconnect you to your vitality, desire, and hope.
What issues do I work with?
I work with clients who feel overwhelmed, hopeless or disconnected, experiences that may be described as anxiety or depression. These feelings can emerge in the aftermath of trauma or abuse but may also be shaped by social and material conditions.
Many of my clients come to therapy wanting to better understand themselves. I have a particular interest in exploring complex emotions such as anger and shame, and in supporting people through different kinds of loss, including bereavement, relationship endings, and grieving a life once imagined.
Who do I work with?
I work affirmatively with gender, sexuality, and relationship diversity, as well as with neurodivergent clients. I have experience supporting clients that live with chronic illness, chronic pain and other health issues. I’m interested in what your diagnosis means in your life, as well as who you are beyond that.
I recognise that our social and political identities shape us in complex ways, and that these identities often intersect to create unique experiences of privilege and oppression. I remain attentive to how difference may be experienced within the therapeutic relationship.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have worked with clients from a diverse range of backgrounds as a counsellor for the charity Mind and for a private low-cost therapy service. Before retraining as a therapist I worked as a jewellery designer and within the wellness field.
My diploma in Integrative Counselling is through The Minster Centre. They are one of the longest established and leading institutions in Integrative Psychotherapy in Europe. This is where I am currently working towards my MA and Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy.
Therapeutic Approach
I approach therapy with curiosity, compassion and creativity. As an integrative and relational therapist, I draw from different approaches depending on what feels most helpful for you. We’ll work collaboratively to discover what that might be, with the understanding that a genuine, present human connection is at the centre of meaningful therapy.
We may reflect on how your early experiences and environment have shaped the way you think, feel and relate to others. I can also support you in recognising your needs and how your body responds to trauma. This understanding helps us to consider how you might respond in ways that feels more empowering, authentic and aligned to who you are now.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

If you feel that talking therapy might be right for you and you're interested in working together, feel free to book an introductory call via Counselling Directory. We can do this via phone or video.
This first meeting is a chance for us to see whether we’re a good fit. I would like to hear about your reasons for seeking therapy and you are welcome to ask me any questions about how I work. Hopefully you will be able to get a sense of what it is like talking to me.
If we decide to more forward we will arrange a day and time for an initial consultation. I will then send you a personal information sheet and therapy agreement to fill out.
If we decide not to move forward together, I’d be happy to suggest alternative options or refer you to other resources.
