About me

About You
Are you experiencing problems in your personal or work life. Issues with partners, family members, friends, or the working environment. Have you been feeling unappreciated or negative and critical about yourself.

Does any of this resonate with you?
•    Feeling you are not good enough
•    Feeling like you should have achieved more in life
•    Feeling worried about things you have said or things going wrong
•.   Feeling guilty if you don't always say yes to helping others
•    Feeling rejected or hurt if anyone criticises you
•    Feeling exhausted because you’re always trying to help other people

How I help
I’m here to help you make sense of it all. Working with me, you’ll be able to explore your issues and experiences and how they might be influencing your life. We’ll explore how you can feel better about yourself, gain more confidence in who you are, and learn how to look after you. This will enable you to feel happier with yourself and will also improve the quality of your relationship with others.

My clients often share that therapy has helped them:
•    Build Self-Confidence & Self-Esteem: By understanding yourself more   deeply, you can see your worth beyond past experiences, allowing you to live more fully.
•    Take Better Care of Yourself: It’s difficult to prioritise yourself when you’ve been used to putting others first. But many people find it’s a relief when they finally start to meet their own needs.
•    Improve Relationships: As you gain clarity about your needs, you’ll be better equipped to communicate openly, leading to more authentic and fulfilling connections.
•    Find Emotional Strength: Working through past pain allows you to handle life’s challenges with greater strength. You’ll gain the power to believe in yourself and your ability to be able to cope with the stresses and strains of life.
•    Experience a Sense of Calm and Control: Instead of feeling like your thoughts and emotions control you, you’ll have the tools to process difficult emotions rather than feeling overwhelmed.

My Journey to Counselling
Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in the City with professionals under high pressure, and later in academia, supporting students, academics, and my own members of staff. These experiences taught me how to understand what people need when they’re feeling overwhelmed, and how to help them find their way forward.  It also means I’m familiar with the demands of corporate and academic work.

As a counsellor I have worked with Mind, both as a bereavement counsellor and with people struggling with anxiety and depression. I have also worked with Southend Carers, and the Open Access Counselling Services. I’m currently working with Mind’s Dove Private Service, BetterHelp, and my own private practice to continue to help clients through life’s challenges.

Thanks to my experience working with a variety of people as a counsellor, I understand that you may be seeking counselling at a point in your life where you feel anxious, low, overwhelmed, or don’t know where to turn, or simply in need of a space to work through your thoughts or feelings.

It may be that you don’t know if counselling will help.  I can only say, both from personal experience and the people I have had the pleasure to support, that change is possible. With the right support you can find hope and a new way forward.

Why I Understand Your Struggles
Through my own therapeutic journey, I learned how much our past shapes us, especially when it comes to the relationships in our lives whether that be personal, work, or with ourselves.

Learning to value myself and my needs to support my own wellbeing was a turning point for me. It helped me build a healthier and happier relationship with myself and others. I know first-hand how hard it can feel to make those changes, but I also know how freeing and happier life is once you do it.

My Approach
I believe in life we are given certain ingredients, and my role is to help you make them work for you, by supporting you to make something meaningful and nourishing with what you have.

We’ll:
•    Uncover the causes of your distress
•    Explore your values and what happiness means to you
•    Identify what you need to feel fulfilled and well

With a greater understanding of these key ingredients, you’ll experience improved wellbeing, better relationships, and a happier and more fulfilled life.

If you’re ready to take the first step, please get in touch.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
