About me

Modern life can be challenging, and we all experience times when life feels difficult. Maybe your feeling low or depressed, experiencing feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and not enjoying life like you used to. Maybe you’re feeling sad and low because you have lost a loved one. Or maybe you are just not feeling good about yourself and your life.

You are not alone. I am experienced in helping clients with low mood, depression, and anxiety; low self-esteem or confidence; and bereavement. I have helped many clients to heal, improve their wellbeing and to feel better.

I know it can be hard to talk about what is troubling you, you may fear being judged, not being fully listened to, or maybe you feel your problems are too small to seek the help of a counsellor. If something is troubling you then no problem is too small. I will listen to you without judgment, with empathy, kindness, and care. Allowing you the opportunity to talk openly in a safe and confidential space so you can work through and explore the issues you are experiencing.

Counselling is healing, transformative, and the ultimate self-care. The approach I use can help you explore and make sense of your thoughts and feelings. It will also help you gain an increased understanding and awareness of yourself, enable you to find your own unique way of coping and dealing with life’s challenges, and work towards feeling better.

All counsellors are different and the relationship between the counsellor and client is unique, and extremely important to the counselling process. Therefore, it is important that you find a counsellor that you feel comfortable with and is right for you. I offer a free 20-minute telephone consultation to help you decide if you feel comfortable with me and if you would like to take the next step of attending your first counselling session.

I offer face to face counselling sessions in Southend-on-Sea and on-line sessions for those unable to travel to Southend.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
