About me

What to expect

I offer brief, effective treatment for anxiety and depression. You might be experiencing some of these feelings, or perhaps struggling to cope with panic attacks, a phobia or a traumatic experience. It could be that you're wrestling with an addiction or obsessive thoughts and behaviours. Whatever the case, and whatever the cause, we can work together to help you recover and get your life back on track - quickly, safely and effectively. I also specialise in using the Rewind technique, which is a non-intrusive, safe and proven method for de-traumatising people and removing phobias.

At my private practice in Cheltenham, I create a safe, confidential space in which to first explore what may be giving rise to uncomfortable feelings, thoughts or unhelpful behaviours and then how you can start to make the changes you need in order to feel better. I aim to treat people in as few sessions as possible and many of my clients report that they're able to move on with their lives in as little as 4-6 sessions. I have enhanced DBS clearance.

How Human Givens therapy can help

Human Givens therapy is based on a holistic, scientific model of human well-being, which allows me to
draw on a range of proven therapeutic methods (including cognitive, behavioural, interpersonal therapies and hypnotherapy) as well as the latest knowledge from neuroscience to help you along the path to recovery. Whilst we'll spend time exploring and understanding your history and experiences, we'll focus mainly on looking forward at the positive things you can do now - in the present - to give you the very best chance of regaining and sustaining your emotional health into the future.

Client feedback

"After suffering with severe anxiety, I was willing to try anything to change my life. I didn't really expect the treatment to be as effective it was and the techniques Cathy gave me to cope with panic attacks and negative thoughts made an enormous difference. I was able to move on with my life and even get through an intense interview and be offered my perfect job, without falling apart as I would have previously".
Paula, client

"After I experienced some traumatic and unexpected events in my life a friend suggested I saw Cathy. I finally agreed and have not regretted it. I immediately felt comfortable and was able to talk openly with no judgment or pressure. I went feeling desperate, emotional and confused. I found the sessions solution-focused and immediately felt more positive and clear. After only a few sessions I have developed advanced coping skills and some helpful breathing techniques for anxiety. I feel more resilient and able to face adversity. I am very grateful for these sessions; they have had a huge positive impact on my quality of life day to day and I believe will so for years to come".
