About me

What to expect

I offer solution-focused treatment for a range of anxiety and depressive conditions. You might be struggling to cope with with panic attacks, a phobia or a traumatic experience. Whatever the case, or cause, we will focus on beginning the process of recovery and helping you to get your life back on track. I specialise in using the 'Rewind' technique, which is a non-intrusive, safe way to process traumatic experience and phobias.

Working both online and in private practice, I aim to create a safe, comfortable and confidential space in which we can first explore what may be triggering painful thoughts, feelings or habits and then the changes you may need to make in order to start to feel better. As part of my philosophy, I try to work with you in as few sessions as possible.

How Human Givens therapy can help

Human Givens therapy is based on a holistic, scientific model of human well-being, which allows me to draw on a range of proven therapeutic methods (including cognitive, behavioural, interpersonal therapies and hypnotherapy) to help you along the path to recovery. Whilst we'll spend time exploring and understanding your history and experiences, we'll focus mainly on looking forward at the positive things you can do now - in the present - to give you the very best chance of regaining and sustaining your emotional health into the future.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Prior to training as a mental health practitioner, I spent many years in the corporate world as an executive coach and workshop facilitator. I have extensive experience in coaching to help people to develop emotional intelligence and greater resilience. I regularly offer specialist coach-counselling interventions to support people who are struggling to manage episodes of stress, anxiety, or panic at work.

Client feedback

"After suffering with severe anxiety, I was willing to try anything to change my life. I didn't really expect the treatment to be as effective it was and the techniques Cathy gave me to cope with panic attacks and negative thoughts made an enormous difference. I was able to move on with my life and even get through an intense interview and be offered my perfect job, without falling apart as I would have previously".

"After I experienced some traumatic and unexpected events in my life a friend suggested I saw Cathy. I finally agreed and have not regretted it. I immediately felt comfortable and was able to talk openly with no judgment or pressure. I went feeling desperate, emotional and confused. I found the sessions solution-focused and immediately felt more positive and clear. After only a few sessions I have developed advanced coping skills and some helpful breathing techniques for anxiety. I feel more resilient and able to face adversity. I am very grateful for these sessions; they have had a huge positive impact on my quality of life day to day and I believe will so for years to come".
