About me
Welcome to Elaleni Counselling
A calm, steady space when life feels heavy
If you’re grieving, overwhelmed, or carrying something you can’t talk about anywhere else, you’re not alone. I offer a warm, grounded space where you can slow down, breathe, and explore what you’re going through at your own pace.
I support adults across the UK through online and phone counselling, specialising in grief, suicide bereavement, trauma and the quieter struggles that can be hard to name.
How I can help
You might be here because:
you’re navigating a loss that has changed everything
you’re overwhelmed by emotions that feel too much to hold alone
you’re living with the impact of trauma
you feel stuck, exhausted or unsure what you need
life has shifted in a way you didn’t expect
Whatever you’re carrying, you don’t have to carry it by yourself.
Together, we create a safe, confidential space where you can talk openly, feel understood, and begin to make sense of what’s happening inside you.
My approach
I’m Catherine — a qualified integrative counsellor and registered MBACP practitioner. My approach is warm, steady and person‑centred.
That means:
we move at your pace
you choose what feels safe to explore
I listen deeply and without judgement
our work is shaped around your needs, not a fixed method
Counselling isn’t about fixing you — it’s about supporting you, gently and consistently, so you feel less alone with what you’re facing.
Why I do this work
My path to becoming a counsellor began with personal loss — an experience that reshaped my world. The support I received during that time helped me begin to heal, and it inspired me to offer the same steady presence to others.
I’ve since worked in education, the NHS and with charities, supporting people through grief, trauma and emotional overwhelm. I’m committed to ethical, trauma‑informed practice, with regular supervision to ensure I offer safe, professional care.
You’re welcome here, just as you are
Reaching out can feel daunting, especially if you’re unsure what you need. You don’t have to have the right words or a clear plan. We can begin wherever you are.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
