About me

Hi! My name is Cath and I am an integrative and person-centred counsellor, meaning I tailor our sessions to suit your individual needs.

After several years working in the corporate, charity and public sectors, I retrained as a counsellor. I love helping people to make sense of the challenges they face. Sometimes life’s knocks mean we don’t always trust ourselves to come up with the ‘right’ solutions. Sometimes it isn’t clear what we need or want to change, we just know something doesn’t feel right. My belief is that deep down, we all know what is best for us. It may just take time and space for this to emerge. By providing warm understanding and gentle honesty, my aim is to help you figure out a way forward, at your own pace.

How I work

Ultimately, the goal of counselling is to support you to process your thoughts and feelings, bringing you to a greater understanding of yourself and how you have reached this point in your life. You may have developed ways of coping in the past which no longer serve you well. You may have lost sight of what your own needs are, and how to meet them. By really listening and working through things together I can support you towards a calmer and more fulfilling life

I work purely face-to-face. I have counselling rooms on the outskirts of Gloucester and in the peaceful village of Kemerton.

If you would like to have a 20-minute telephone conversation prior to booking a session, to get a feel for if I may be the best counsellor for you, please do get in touch.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
