Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist ACP Registered

About me

I am a qualified Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist with extensive experience working with children, young people, young adults and families.

I offer psychodynamic & psychoanalytic psychotherapy for children, adolescents and young adults up to the age of 25, as well as therapeutic work with parents and carers. I have a particular interest in early relationships and emotional development and offer parent-infant and parent-child work with families of babies and young children.

My approach is thoughtful, compassionate and individually tailored. I aim to provide a safe and confidential space where difficult feelings, relationships and experiences can be explored at a pace that feels manageable. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, I work to understand what may be happening beneath the surface and how past and present experiences may be influencing current emotions, relationships and patterns of behaviour.

I have experience supporting children and young people experiencing a wide range of emotional and relational difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, difficulties with self-esteem, emotional regulation, family and relationship difficulties, developmental and life transitions, experiences of loss or trauma, and difficulties that may be hard to put into words.

My professional background also includes many years of experience in mental health nursing and specialist training in systemic and family approaches, solution-focused brief therapy, observational studies and a range of psychological interventions. This breadth of experience allows me to think about each person within the wider context of their relationships, family and life experiences.

I offer an initial consultation to understand what has brought you or your child to therapy and to think together about what type of support may be most helpful. Where appropriate, this may lead to individual psychotherapy, parent work, parent-child work or a shorter period of focused therapeutic support.

My private practice is based in Digbeth, Birmingham, with appointments available for children, young people, young adults and parents.

Training, qualifications & experience

I bring over 14 years of experience working in mental health services, alongside extensive specialist training in working therapeutically with children, young people, young adults, and families.

My specialist Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy training is a doctorate-equivalent clinical training, grounded in psychoanalytic and psychodynamic psychotherapy. I am also a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN), giving me a broad understanding of both emotional wellbeing and more complex mental health difficulties.

My qualifications and specialist training include:

  • Doctorate-equivalent specialist training in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN)
  • BSc in Psychological Interventions
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Observational Studies
  • Diploma in Solution Focused Brief Therapy
  • Diploma in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

I have extensive experience working within NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and currently practise at senior clinician level alongside my private work.

My experience includes individual psychotherapy with children, adolescents and young adults, as well as work with parents, families and younger children. I have a particular interest in early emotional development and relationships, including parent-infant, parent-child and Under-5s therapeutic work.

My broad professional background allows me to offer thoughtful, individually tailored psychotherapy while considering both the person and the relationships and experiences around them.
