About me

Hi, I'm Beth and I'm an Somatically trained Integrative Counsellor and Psychodynamic Therapist which means I’m trained in several different approaches to work with the mind, its patterns, the body, the nervous system & behaviours and how we relate to others and our experiences.

I will offer you the unpressured experience of time and space, presence, compassion, and the tools and techniques to work with strong sensations and feelings that may arise when you are trying to make changes, accept or find a state of internal peace or resolution or even make sense of experiences you have had in your life and/ are currently experiencing.

The sensations and big feelings that arise when certain memories, ideas,  or the desire to address or move forward can feel overwhelming and anxiety provoking. When expected or unexpected big life changes happen, we may feel as though we are without a map, the knowledge, confidence, mental or emotional resources to navigate them and we may find ourselves frozen, stuck, confused, powerless or frustrated.

The therapy I offer focuses on helping you to explore, make sense of, digest and tackle the challenges of the human experience and maybe even discover how when we are at our most vulnerable, how life enhancing it can be to receive non-judgemental support, help and guidance from a somatically trained, trauma informed integrative therapist.

Psychology training aside, I am also a qualified and experienced Yoga and somatics teacher and Lecturer in Yoga philosophy and have been for the last 20+ and understand how interconnected our mind and body is and how valuable and useful a holistic approach is to learning how to live well and to ones mental, physical and spiritual capacity, health and wellbeing. In my experience this is often the missing link for clients that may have that self awareness but feel they don’t have the tools or support to take action or know where to start.

I feel it is within the safety, presence, compassion, respect and confidentiality of the relationship between therapist and client that one can begin to address what may feel overwhelming to engage with alone and begin to uncover or develop a way of relating to themselves and the events of their life that feels compassionate, welcoming, non-judgemental and liberating.

I also have additional qualifications in the following areas:

  • Eating disorders and disordered eating.
  • Addiction
  • The Neuroscience of relating and relationships, attachment, trauma, loss and grief and bereavement
  • Psychiatry, Psychopathology and Psychodynamics
  • CBT
  • ‘Short-Term/Time-limited’ counselling and ‘Long term/open-ended' counselling

Sessions with me are £80 and I work via a pre payment structure with a 48hr cancellation policy.

Training, qualifications & experience

Other areas of training and experience include living with an auto-immune based diagnosis, the navigation of neurodivergence, menstrual cycle consciousness & the relationship to one’s psychology & mental health, recovery from narcissistic relational abuse, disability, sexuality and sexual identity, a queer and nonbinary identity, biracial and cultural difference.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
