About me

My approach is tailored to your particular goals and challenges. It is integrative and derived from various therapeutic methods, including:

  • systemic therapies, such as narrative therapy, solution-focused brief therapy and emotionally focused therapy
  • cognitive behavioural therapy
  • psychodynamic psychotherapy
  • relational and integrative psychotherapy
  • mindfulness and body-oriented approaches, such as sophrology

Some of the issues I work with include:

  • anxiety, social anxiety, depression, trauma
  • general feeling of emptiness or dissatisfaction, despite having everything
  • personal development, self-reflection, self-awareness
  • difficulty managing emotions, stress, low self-esteem
  • relationship or dating issues
  • postnatal depression, parenting concerns
  • career dilemmas, problems at work
  • cross-cultural issues, family conflicts

Therapy is an investment in yourself and your relationships. It can reveal aspects of yourself that you have taken for granted, for example, people-pleasing, self-criticism, overworking, over-rationalizing, dismissing your own needs or emotions. Such patterns of thinking and behaving emerge, because they serve us at different points of our lives. However, what might have served us in adolescence, does not necessarily serve us in adult relationships.

My high-achieving clients are often motivated to explore what their specific 'autopilot' entails. We might work on increasing awareness, whether it is awareness of their bodily sensations, feelings, or thought and behavioural patterns. Increasing awareness of our internal processes can feel very empowering, because it enables us to change our internal experiences, become more intentional with our behaviours, and positively affect our relationships and goals.

My approach to therapy is a collaborative one, during which my clients and I work together to create a new understanding of their experience, allowing for growth and change. I see the clients as the experts on their own experience, so I try to set aside my personal values to enter their worlds in an empathetic manner. Depending on their goals, we might address time-sensitive problems or longer-term patterns and difficulties. My client’s time is very valuable, so I aim to be goal-oriented.

The right connection with a therapist is key to a successful therapeutic process, which is why I encourage you to enter this process with someone you feel at ease with.

Before opening my private practice, I provided counselling and neurotherapy (neurofeedback) to children and adults at Angels – Zagreb, a Croatian multidisciplinary therapy centre (2011-2016). I worked with clients that needed support with a range of difficulties including: anxiety, depression, sleep problems, as well as neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism, ADHD, epilepsy.

I have been a volunteer therapist at the charity Circles in Zagreb, and at the Sisters of Charity teaching hospital, assisting with multi-family group therapy, dealing mostly with addiction.

As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I adhere to their strict professional standards. In addition, I regularly attend personal psychotherapy and supervision with senior clinicians, as part of maintaining high standards of practice. I also carry out consultations with peers and other mental health professionals, and undertake continual professional development.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

Sometimes our issues arise or are maintained as a result of a relationship, be it a past or present relationship, or the relationship to ourselves. Many individuals or couples decide to try therapy because they want to discuss their dilemmas, uncomfortable thoughts, or they find themselves stuck. They may feel unappreciated, disconnected, misunderstood, or overwhelmed. I aim to create an attuned therapeutic relationship within which my clients feel safe and empowered to take more risks in exploring their thoughts and feelings.
