About me

Therapy can be daunting if you don’t know what to expect. I’m not a doctor; you don’t need to question how you’re phrasing things or use formal language when you come for your sessions. It’s okay to swear, laugh, cry or vent… or not. Therapy is a space for you, so you do you.

I always aim to be myself when working with a client (this is sometimes called congruence), and I really hope you can be yourself too. I hope that by offering a space free of judgement that you will feel, in time, that you can be more of yourself when you come to therapy.

There is no such thing as “right” or “wrong” things to talk about in therapy. Talk to me about your deepest thoughts and feelings, talk to me about sport, work, your week, your relationships, what you hate, what you love, sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll.

Life is about light and shade, and I think therapy often reflects this. Sometimes we can think that therapy is a place to feel sad and nothing else, but all feelings are welcome, even the silly, angry, and happy feelings.

I am an integrative therapist, which essentially means that I draw from different theories and ways of working to work with each client as an individual. If theory is your thing, my core modalities are Person-Centred, Gestalt, and Psychodynamic. I work in a way that is radically non-judgemental, and I am LGBTQ+ and neuroaffirming, trauma-informed and sex positive in my practice. I sometimes work creatively, but I also know this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, so will always follow my client’s lead. I am a student member of the BACP and adhere to the BACP Ethical Code.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • MA Counselling and Psychotherapy
  • BSc (Hons) Psychology
  • Level 4 Counselling Skills Certificate

In my clinical work, I have experience supporting clients with a range of issues, including (but not limited to) trauma, loneliness, perinatal mental health, low confidence, sport performance, anxiety, stress, compulsivity relating to social media/phone use or pornography (sometimes also phrased as porn addiction, phone addiction or social media addiction), life changes (such as children leaving home, retirement, or career changes) and depression.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
