About us
Let's make sense of some things together and bring calmness and compassion into your life. I can offer a space of non-judgemental acceptance of who you are or who you want to become. Psychotherapy can help you to understand yourself better and as your therapist, I can guide and nurture you towards change. I work either from a therapeutic lounge in South Leicestershire or from a garden space with the sounds of wind chimes, chickens, ducks and running water offering a peaceful backdrop to your time there. We can also walk-and-talk around Leicester's Botanic Gardens - using eco-therapy to add a different dynamic to our work - or video call via Zoom. Maybe we can do a mixture of any or all of these approaches so that you can meet different parts of yourself.
I have particular experience in guiding clients through sexual trauma, being impacted by a drug/alcohol/emotional/physical/sexual abuser, feelings of being different or 'other', loneliness, and working through the acceptance of a traumatic childhood/relationship. I have worked with clients who couldn't understand, describe or feel what emotions were, therefore needing a more gentle longer term approach, but also those needing short-term guidance and techniques for overcoming stress, self-doubt and depression.
I am an enthusiastic about encouraging both women and men to notice and nurture their feelings of self belief, self-worth and self-confidence. I am passionate about nurturing healthy relationships, and offer couples therapy to support both/all of you to connect more deeply and lovingly with each other.
We can work together for as long as you need, until you feel better connected to yourself and to others.
What will we do in therapy?
We carefully explore your history - generational patterns before and after your birth, your childhood, your relationships, and any traumas, and find a holistic route to understanding why you may respond to situations/relationships/yourself in the way that you do.
Maybe you've heard of Jung's shadow work? How the unconscious parts of ourselves create both helpful and unhelpful patterns in behaviour and relationships. We will explore all of you; the conscious and unconscious.
I integrate different therapy styles, with aspects of attachment theory, relationship styles, and love languages. I may incorporate eco-therapy, breath work, tantra, sensory consciousness, journalling and book/film recommendations, along with both talking and silence. Im White British and I've been Muslim for 20 years but work in either secular or spiritual ways - sessions are tailored to YOU. There is space for creativity/flexibility within our time together.

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information
Although I've been Muslim for 20 years, I grew up as an atheist living within western culture. I therefore understand and accept people of all faiths and none. Embedded within me are aspects of Sufism, Eastern Philosophy, deeper consciousness and a desire to connect intuitively with the natural world. Much of my training and previous work involved working from a secular perspective, so I have developed a way to integrate the Western models of Psychotherapy with Existentialism and Transpersonal (Spiritual) Therapy for those clients to whom that appeals.
