About me
Sometimes life can feel overwhelming, confusing, or difficult to make sense of. You may be struggling with anxiety, low mood, stress, or relationships, or perhaps you feel stuck and are not sure how to move forward. You may not even be sure exactly what is wrong, only that you know you don't feel quite like yourself.
As a qualified integrative counsellor, I offer a warm, compassionate and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences without fear of judgement. I believe that being truly listened to and understood can be an important first step towards making sense of what you are experiencing. My aim is to create a space where you can feel accepted as you are, take your time, and explore what feels important to you.
My approach is collaborative, drawing on Person-Centred Therapy, Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Relational Psychodynamic approaches, adapting the way I work to meet you as an individual.
Together, we might explore how your thoughts influence how you feel and behave, pay attention to what you are experiencing emotionally or physically in the present moment, or consider how past relationships and experiences may be influencing the way you relate to yourself and others today.
How I can help
I work with a wide range of concerns and life experiences, including but not limited to:
- Anxiety and worry
- Depression and low mood
- Low self-esteem and self-confidence
- Stress and burnout
- Bereavement and loss
- Relationship difficulties
- Family issues
- Attachment and relational difficulties
- Patterns of behaviour that you would like to understand or change
- Anger
- Identity
- Work-related difficulties
- Life transitions and periods of change
- Feeling stuck, disconnected or unsure of yourself
- Neurodiversity and experiences associated with being neurodivergent
I have a particular interest in attachment and relationships, and how our early experiences can shape the ways we understand ourselves, connect with others and respond when relationships feel difficult or uncertain.
I also have a particular interest in neurodiversity and the different ways people experience and make sense of the world. My previous experience working with children and young people with special educational needs has given me an appreciation of the importance of understanding the individual rather than focusing simply on a diagnosis or label.
I have a special interest in the experiences of twins too. Being a twin can be a unique and complex experience, with its own questions around identity, individuality, closeness, comparison, and relationships. I am interested in creating space to explore what being a twin means for you and how this may have shaped your experiences and relationships.
You don't need to have everything figured out before coming to counselling. We can start wherever you are and take things at a pace that feels manageable for you.
What you can expect from me
I want you to feel heard, respected and accepted for who you are. I will listen with warmth, curiosity and compassion, without judgement, while supporting you to develop greater self-awareness and understanding of yourself, your needs and the things that may be getting in the way of living the life you want.
Counselling isn’t about me telling you what you should do. You are the expert on your own experience. My role is to walk alongside you, offering support, curiosity and a different perspective as we explore what is happening for you and work towards greater emotional wellbeing and personal growth.
Sometimes counselling involves looking at difficult or uncomfortable experiences, but we don’t have to rush. Building a trusting therapeutic relationship is important to me, and I will work with you at a pace that feels safe and manageable.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified integrative counsellor with a Foundation Certificate in Counselling (Level 3) and an Advanced Diploma in Counselling (Level 4) from Heartwood.
I also hold a Master's Degree in Working with Children, Young People and Families: A Psychoanalytic Observational Approach.
I have experience working with children and young people with special educational needs, which has contributed to my particular interest in neurodiversity and in understanding each person's individual way of experiencing themselves, their relationships, and the world around them.
