About me
I am an integrative psychotherapist specializing in working with adults, children, and adolescents to help them understand and navigate the difficulties they face. My approach to psychotherapy is reflective, creative, and empowering. I believe that warmth and humor are essential in creating a safe environment to explore challenging emotions.
People choose to begin therapy at different points in their lives. Often, this decision arises during overwhelming times or when they feel stuck. Many individuals experience recurring emotions that are painful and confusing, and they may be dealing with unresolved wounds or adjustments needed due to life's changes or adversities. If you can relate to any of this, you might sense that your life could benefit from reflection, leading to a deeper self-awareness and a more fulfilling existence.
Therapy with me provides a space for you to delve deeper into your experiences. I understand that it can be daunting to trust someone to accompany you on this journey. My goal is to create an atmosphere where all your thoughts and feelings, even the most confusing or intimate, can be expressed and received with acceptance and compassionate curiosity. Our relationship would be collaborative; your wishes and needs will guide our work while I offer my experience, wisdom, and knowledge. My questions and reflections aim to provide you with new perspectives, revealing possibilities you hadn't previously recognized. Together, we can identify patterns in your life that are no longer serving you and explore ways to replace them with choices that align more closely with your authentic self.
As an integrative psychotherapist, I draw from various therapeutic approaches, equipping me with a diverse set of tools for our work together. I utilize psychodynamic and developmental theories, trauma-informed practices, and neuroscience insights to understand the challenges you face. When appropriate, I incorporate elements such as art, sand tray work, play therapy, Gestalt therapy, psychoeducation, mindfulness, Indigenous traditions, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to enhance our therapeutic exploration and help you better cope with life's challenges.
I recognize the differences in neurocognitive styles. Each person's mind operates uniquely, with individual strengths and weaknesses. I welcome neurodiverse clients and adapt my methods to accommodate each person's specific needs.
Psychotherapy for Children & Adolescents
If you are seeking a therapist for a young person, you may have observed changes in their mood or behavior. Perhaps you are aware that they are going through a particularly confusing time. Growing up is complicated, and today's world brings unique challenges. Emotional difficulties, such as anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, or anger, can emerge during this period. Providing a safe space to gently explore these feelings can lead to significant relief and facilitate better adjustment. As a Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist, I strive to create a secure and confidential relationship, fostering a playful and creative environment that meets the developmental needs of young clients. Understanding and expressing feelings can be particularly challenging for children, which is where creative mediums like art and play can be valuable tools for accessing their emotions.
Reflective Parenting Sessions
You may feel that the work needed for your child or family is best accomplished through your own reflection with a therapist. Participating in reflective parenting sessions can provide a new perspective on interactions, feelings, or behaviors, allowing you to step outside of established patterns and discover healthier ways of relating. This space can be safe and non-judgmental, giving you the opportunity to explore the intense emotions that parenting can evoke, develop new skills, and enhance your confidence as a parent.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over 25 years of experience in the mental health field, having worked in various therapeutic and caring roles, as well as in clinical management, academic tuition, and supervision. This extensive experience has allowed me to support individuals from various backgrounds who face different kinds of adversity.
Before establishing my clinical practice, I worked in various settings, including children's homes, services for children leaving care, psychiatric wards, addiction treatment centers, and residential family assessment centers. Since qualifying as a psychotherapist, I have worked in a demanding tier 2 NHS service, managed clinical services for a mental health charity, and provided psychotherapy in several educational settings, ranging from primary schools to sixth forms.
I hold two Master's degrees related to mental health: Applied Psychology and Integrative Psychotherapy, which complement each other well.
In addition to running my own private practice, I work as an academic tutor and supervise psychotherapy trainees, focusing on Parent-Infant Observations and clinical work. I have also completed additional specialized training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, ADHD, Autism, Gender Dysphoria, Grief and Bereavement, Eating Disorders, Anxiety, and various approaches to working with Trauma.
I am an accredited member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and adhere to its Code of Ethics.
I possess a current DBS certificate and have completed safeguarding training.

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
