About me

Hi, my name is Andy and I am a trauma focussed person-centred therapist. I am a clinical Hypnotherapist and I am trained to use REWIND, a therapeutic technique used to help overcome trauma and PTSD.

I offer an empathetic, warm, safe environment in order for us to be able to build a trusting therapeutic relationship for you to be able to speak freely and explore your inner most thoughts and feelings without judgement.

Within this environment, we can talk about the struggles you have faced and help you to understand what has led you to counselling. We will work at your pace throughout the sessions and there will be no pressure from me, this is your time and you may use this time to talk and explore whatever comes to mind.

You may choose to talk and explore past or present issues and I am here to help you see positive change to help you move forward with your life, with a greater understanding of yourself. Counselling offers a safe space for which you can feel understood by another person and any thoughts and fears can be safely verbalised and processed within the counselling room.

I have a lot of experience working with trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, stress and ADHD.

I am a fully qualified person-centred counsellor, I worked for a men’s suicide prevention service for the first two years of my career offering my talking therapy skills as well as providing clinical Hypnotherapy which helps with reducing anxiety, depression and stress levels.

In my current role, I offer therapeutic support to families, parents and children that have been affected by addiction.

I do receive therapeutic counselling myself, as I believe I should never forget how it feels to walk through the counselling door and be the client.

I offer a free telephone consultation before arranging a first counselling session and this is so you are able to give me an overview of what has led you to counselling. It is also a chance for you to be able to speak me and ensure you feel comfortable working with me before we start our sessions together.

If you require any advice regarding the counselling process, struggling to find a counsellor that is right for you or find yourself in the position of not knowing where to start, then I am more than happy to offer free and confidential advice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

I have experience working with clients who suffer with anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, relationship breakdowns, addiction and grief. I am able to actively listen and paint a picture of my clients life in order for me to gain a better understanding of my clients and my clients perspective of the world. It is through this clear understanding, I am able to help clients seek and create avenues for positive change.
