About me
I'm Amanda, a BACP-registered psychotherapist with over ten years' experience supporting adults through a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges, including anxiety, eating disorders, family relationships, and difficult or distressing thoughts and feelings.
I believe therapy works best as a genuine partnership built on trust, honesty, and being truly heard. I work integratively, drawing on person-centred, CBT, and attachment-informed approaches, and I tailor each session to what you actually need rather than fitting you into a fixed model.
I have run my own private practice since 2019, working with adults across a broad range of presenting issues. I walk alongside you on your journey, staying closely attuned to what you're feeling and giving you the space to be truly heard, at the pace that feels right for you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold BACP registration (MBACP) and trained to CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, alongside a CPCAB Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies. My core training is person-centred, and I have since undertaken further training in CBT through short courses and CPD, alongside attachment-informed practice, allowing me to adapt therapy to what you personally need rather than working from a single fixed model.
I have run my own private practice since 2019, with particular experience in trauma and loss. Earlier in my career, I worked as a volunteer counsellor supporting male survivors of sexual abuse through complex trauma, which shaped my commitment to working ethically and sensitively with the most difficult experiences a person can carry.
I continue to maintain regular clinical supervision and ongoing professional development, including training in safeguarding, suicide awareness, eating disorders, and working with autism, so that my practice stays current, safe, and rooted in evidence-informed care.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
