About me
If you are here, something has probably become too much to bear
I imagine you are seeking therapy because a sense of emotional pain or discomfort has gone on for too long. The ways of coping that used to work - keeping busy, holding it in, pushing through - may have stopped working. If that is where you are, I want you to know it makes sense that you are looking for help, and that looking is itself a hopeful act. The first small shift.
I also know how it feels from your side. I first came to therapy as a client years ago, and I remember the vulnerability, the sense of admitting I couldn't do it alone anymore, and the quiet shame that came with that. That experience is part of why I do this work, and it shapes how I meet the people who come to me.
How I work
I offer a steady, grounded space where you set the pace. I am fully present and attentive in every session, and genuinely in your corner. My job is to meet you as you are and help you meet yourself, in a space safe enough to go where you need to.
I trained in Psychosynthesis, a humanistic and integrative approach that considers the entirety of your experience, including mind, body, feelings and the search for meaning. Some weeks we might work with what happened days ago, some with what began decades ago, others with what is happening right now.
In practice, this means we don't treat your pain only as a problem to be solved. We also listen to it, because it is often a sign of something wanting to be heard, and of a more authentic self trying to emerge.
Practicalities & Next Steps
Sessions are 50 minutes, weekly, in person in London or online (in English only). Send an enquiry to alpay@enliventherapy.co.uk if you'd like to book a session and find out more.
I offer an optional free 15-minute phone call before we begin, so you can get a sense of me and I can understand what you are looking for. It is not a therapy session and there is no commitment attached.
You do not need the right words for what is wrong to get in touch.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling from the Psychosynthesis Trust, and I am a member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP - Membership No. 421190).
I have been seeing clients since 2024.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
If we go forward with an initial assessment session, it will last 50 minutes and cost £65. This session gives us a chance to explore what brings you to therapy, as well as gather important information about your current situation and past history. You'll also get a chance to see how I work and ask any questions you may have.
After this, we can decide together if we want to continue working together for regular weekly sessions.
