About me

Hello and welcome to my practice.

Firstly, I would like you to know that I recognise the personal challenges involved in taking the first steps towards seeking help. I am aware that this can evoke a multitude of feelings additional to those that brought you here in the first instance. My hope is to provide you with a space in which you can feel at ease and an experience that will leave you feeling empowered and ready to continue on your journey. I am passionate about the benefits of psychotherapy and counselling and the exploration and understanding of ourselves that this experience provides.

My approach is person-centred / humanistic, though I may also use my knowledge of other therapeutic models during our time together. You are a unique individual, therefore, I work in a way that offers the freedom and flexibility to suit who you are. My role is to facilitate and support you, helping you to understand your experience of the world.  I believe that you have the resources within to know how you want your life to be. Together, we will aim to develop your own inner resources to bring about positive change.

What to expect from me - Whether you want to talk about past or present events, I am here to listen to you, without judgment. I don’t problem solve or claim to have all of the answers. I am not the expert on you, you are the expert on you. Working together, I hope to provide you with a space which feels safe and supportive. A space where I hope you can feel comfortable in speaking your thoughts and your truths. A space without agenda or expectation, where every aspect of  who you are will be respected and accepted without conditions attached. A space enabling you to process your experiences and gain a deeper understanding of yourself, freeing you to live in the here and now.
I very much look forward to meeting you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
