About me

Feeling anxious, stuck, overwhelmed or simply don't know where to start?  Start with me...  I'm a counsellor and psychotherapist based in East Lothian, Scotland, offering the flexibility of online sessions to clients across the UK.

My clients tell me I offer them a warm, empathic, safe, non judgemental and trusting space, from which they explore their experiences and associated thoughts and feelings. I take great pride in the relationship my clients and I build together.

I work with adults (18+), working with a wide range of areas including but not limited to anxiety, ADHD, depression, family relationships and bereavement and loss.  I have a lot of experience supporting young adults and students as they get to know themselves more deeply and navigate their place in the world.

I believe you already have the capacity for growth and healing within you. My role is to help you reconnect with, and trust, that inner strength.

I offer online sessions to clients across the UK, in-person 'walk and talk' or outdoor sit and talk sessions on the beautiful East Lothian coast. I currently have a waitlist for face to face sessions but please enquire and I will endeavour to help.

If you're unsure or have questions, please just get in touch and we can take things from there - no obligation.

Training, qualifications & experience

After spending over 15 years in Financial Services - across IT, Communications and Programme Management - I discovered a passion for psychology and counselling. That breadth of life experience enriches everything I bring to my therapeutic work.  Whilst I enjoyed my corporate experiences I recognise the stresses and challenges that can come with it.

After gaining a first class honours degree in psychology, I trained at Edinburgh University in person-centred and psychodynamic counselling approaches and work interactively with these in my practice.

I'm a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and work within the BACP Ethical Framework. I am professionally insured and work monthly with my clinical supervisor.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
