About me

Often, when struggling to navigate life's challenges we are convinced that we 'have a mental health problem'. The word 'problem' itself can suggest we are out of reach, complicated, difficult and is often the beginning of a feeling of isolation from everyone else. Accepting that we may need to meet those challenges head-on and seek help can feel like a daunting task, with the bravery and courage that is required to take this next step beyond our capabilities.

At the core of my Person Centred approach is helping bring about change for the client through the collaboration of the therapeutic relationship. Understanding that trust and safety in the exchange is paramount for you the client. I believe that the challenges we face whether from choices we have made or that have been made for us must be met with compassion, acceptance without judgement and that your needs as the client are held at the centre of what we achieve in the counselling process.

My central experience of working with those who have survived complex trauma has allowed me to understand the fluidity of the counselling process and that the exploration of feelings, emotions and impacts have their own unique rhythm and perspective. Ultimately supporting you to movement and growth from what brings you to counselling, alongside understanding vulnerability and valuing self. With this in mind, focus within sessions begin with understanding what your needs are as the client.

How do I know what kind of therapy I need? It can feel like a huge responsibility to find the 'right' therapist. As a response to this, I offer a free introductory session where I encourage you to ask questions to assess whether you feel I would be the best therapist for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Levels 2, 3 and 5 in Therapeutic Counselling (Grantham & Stamford)
  • BA (Hons) Therapeutic Counselling and Psychotherapy - University Centre Peterborough

My experience includes supporting young people at Lincoln University, specifically working with trauma related experiences on a 1-to-1 basis at the University's Well-being service.

For the last five years, I have worked with a charity that provides counselling and support to survivors of sexual violence, Rape and childhood sexual assault. Working from a 1-to-1 or online basis, my respect and understanding for those that embark upon healing from such trauma has enabled me to offer a safe space where clients feel truly seen, heard and believed often for the first time.

Training is regularly updated through ongoing Industry CPD as well as monthly Supervision.

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
