I wonder what you hope for help with?

It may be that you need space to grieve someone who died or a relationship that broke down. You may need help to manage anxiety and find peace. It could be that you struggle to fit in and want to understand yourself better. Perhaps the world and the future feel dark and you need to rediscover hope. Perhaps you want to grow spiritually and find more of your meaning and purpose.

We face painful struggles in life and are so much in need of a skilled companion to help us along the way.

About me

My own story is that from early adulthood I had a longing to heal and help others in that way too.

I combine all I gained through this personal journey with the experience of several years' practice as a counsellor. This is built on a strong training foundation; I have a Master's level degree in multiple therapeutic approaches and work with your particular need using the best evidence-based techniques.

How I work

I work conversationally. Understanding ourselves, learning to be kind to ourselves, learning to let go and change and heal are deeply rewarding processes.

Our bodies hold memories and feelings- connecting with them can reveal what our minds might complicate or overlook.

I also work with imagery and symbol: 'I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way- things I had no words for (Georgia O’Keeffe).

Training, qualifications & experience

Professional Training

I have a first class Masters degree in counselling and have practiced for several years.

I trained in the three major schools of psychotherapy, and give a tiny flavour of what this means:

  • Psychodynamic (understanding the patterns in our lives)
  • Person-Centred (trusting the capacity within to heal and grow)
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (how we think affects our emotions which in turn affects our behaviour).

I take my professional development seriously and have undertaken further training in, for example, working with trauma, anger, complex emotional needs, spiritual abuse and more...

Previous professional experience

As a therapist, I bring to the counselling room the relational wisdom I have gathered in all my professional and personal experience to date.

I have worked all over the world in the British military, deeply involved in the pastoral care of soldiers. I have been employed in charities serving those most in need, both in the UK and Africa, including several years in the clinical and management oversight of an affordable counselling agency.
